Wheels Manufacturing Presta Valve Saver: Protecting Your Bike's Valves for Longevity Review

I bought these to convert a set of Bontranger wheels from Schrader valving to Presta. I've tried rubber grommets with plastic rings but they seem to have shifted and the Presta valve tubes seem to wobble. These Wheels Manufacturing "lifeguards" hold the valves in place well so they don't move and create a potential weak point in the hose. Especially when the tire requires higher pressure. Use it and forget it. For lower pressures, styles with rubber bushings seem to work well.

These little things are needed when replacing Schrader valve tubes with Presta valves. I'm not sure why Trek still put these types of discs/cams on their mid-range bikes, but it's annoying. I keep them in my son's seat pocket for when I need to replace the tube which all the ones I buy already come with. They're easy to fit and I would also suggest placing them under the rim tape to ensure they stay in place and don't cause the presta valve to pull out of the tube. They sell and feel high…

Overall no problem. These Shrader to Presta adapters work great. I hate Shraeder valves, even on my kids bikes. Sure, tubes with Schrader valves are great for air compressors, but Presta valves are a lot easier to use with a good quality floor pump.
