I don't know what transparency has to do with a fuel filter, but it's a real filter. eBay sells fakes of this filter. Beware of cheap imitations. The good ones have a real filter while the fake ones just have a metal mesh inside.

True to the original. However, to make installation easier, I simply unscrewed the cup and took out the new filter element, then took it out and replaced the used element with a new one in the original cup. That way I didn't have to break the fuel lines.

I've read that it's cheaper to buy these assemblies and use an internal filter than to buy a replacement filter. The assembly is perfect for the original assembly of the filter, the internal design of the filter has changed and does not match the original assembly. Keep in mind that this is an ideal replacement for a single replacement of the entire assembly, but not the internal filter.

Genuine Mercury fuel filter at a bargain price. Factory replacement on my 60hp four stroke engine. Easy tool-less replacement (the bolt actually slid into the bracket with no adjustment). Attach the fuel hoses and you're done in less than five minutes. I bought two so I don't have to wait for delivery when I change the engine oil, lower block lube and fuel filter annually.

Ideal for Mercury 60hp EFI. Find at least one filter. My local dealer doesn't just sell me the filter. You have to buy the whole set. I unscrewed the side bowl and simply replaced the old filter with a new one. There is no need to change the entire base. Seems a little cheaper through Revain. Merc does a great job of hiding an item's PN or charging more per item than buying the entire assembly. Yamaha in my future.

I have an 86 Merc 35 hp. This filter was actually slightly smaller than the one that came off it, the top bolt was longer and the inlet and outlet were larger so it had to be stretched hose. This filter works well, it's almost the same as the original filter but the characteristics are a bit different, but oh well, it does the job.
