The recommended ZaZa Remote app is terrible. And unfortunately, AnyMote doesn't work with this device; I used this app before on an old Samsung phone with an IR emitter. Try as I may, I can't seem to get this to work with a TCL Roku TV, which you'd think is a fairly common device that's supported. To make matters worse, this app required to use this product has an in-app advertisement that appears. Maybe wait until I make money before shoving ads in my face while trying endless different codes.

Works right out of the box. And as I was hoping, the Zaza app can rotate since you're pointing the bottom of your phone at the device you're controlling. I use it on my Samsung S9+. The app also has a dark skin that you can download. I was very annoyed when Samsung discontinued the IR blaster after the S6. So this will come in handy. The adapter forces you to use your own application. So far I haven't found an alternative. The English localization is so bad that some messages/dialogs make it impossible to even guess what they are saying. I have tried so far. Guided IR code search is intuitive but has drawbacks in the sense that it's weird when a device doesn't support a certain button that the manual wants you to force testing. It's just comfortable enough not to be considered new, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I really enjoyed being able to control some of my devices as I like being able to control things with my smart device. The only thing I have is that the Zaza app has limitations when trying to create a custom remote. If you decide to create a new device you should use the default template and I haven't found a way to customize the text to add my own buttons when using the learn feature. This device works with my Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus (s8+) but the ZaZaRemote software is currently not on Google Play. I had to get a copy from the APK mirror site. This worries me as Google may have removed it from Playstore as it was one of the apps that contained malicious components or libraries. I'm deducting 1 star from my rating for that.
