Good basic stem: Sport

Bought a used Trek 8.3 DS which is completely stock and in immaculate condition. The stock Bontrager bar and stem sucks. The handle is too short and the handle is too long. Ordered a 70mm stem and a Truvativ 700 20 Rise 31.8 Hussefelt Comp Riserbar (Blast Black). Huge difference in comfort and handling.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Repair

Looks good, feels good

Wanted a shorter stem for my mountain bike. Nothing fantastic. Combined with a slightly wider handlebar for tighter handling. Reset the minimum weight amount compared to the previous setting. Looks good, feels good, works as expected. I am very happy with it. Easy enough to install. After a dozen rides I can say I'm satisfied.

  • Comfortable

Fixed MTB Stem - Parts & Components

I just installed this after seeing a micro tear on my current mountain bike stem (my bike is a Niner Jet 9). Poryskale on Revain. I've seen cheaper fakes, but my life is worth more than trusting an unnamed company. I have had Race Face components before and they have been reliable. It didn't take long to install (YouTube video will help you). Can't beat the price. I'm ready to go and not worried about my barrel breaking!

Pros
  • Easy to read dashboard
Cons
  • No auto stem

Good quality stem, the best stem

I regretted selling my mountain bike for years. I recently bought a Raleigh M50 on a CL - very cheap, hardly used - tires still have mold spots. I upgraded the short seat post, heavy handlebars and short steep stem with Race Face components - what a difference. That's a really good stick. The only thing that confuses me is that they don't specify the torque required for the bolts. I tightened the two stem bolts to 35" and the four stem clamp bolts to 25".

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Expensive

RaceFace = Quality Parts

The RaceFace Ride Mountain Bike Stem is a well built and great looking stem. As a bonus, it comes with a nice RaceFace decal. I upgraded my MTB's stem with a black 70mm 31.8mm 6 degree clamp for my 1-1/8" steerer tube. This stem combined with my new RaceFace headset pads and RaceFace Atlas handlebar gives my bike a completely new and amazing look. If you haven't had RaceFace products on your bike before, let me assure you they are quality parts. If so, then you already know. Thank you forโ€ฆ

Lower the reach and put it a little further back

I have a 60mm stem instead of the 90mm I had on my 26" fully. On some trails where it drops I felt a little ahead. I made the following changes: To increase my front fork travel from 100mm to 120mm and shorten the stem to look more like current trail bikes, I also swapped out my WTB Velociraptor 2.1 for a Rocket Ron 2.25. And he feels a lot better. The stock looks great. The only thing I can knock is that I can't put my Garmin computer on stock. He's too short. But I just put it on the steering
