Works great in radar detectors

I read the reviews and to be honest was a little worried about the rattling and loss that others have written in their reviews. Well, I have to tell you, in my case, these ratings are not correct. And my case goes beyond the average commuter. Here's why: I have a 2001 Excursion, diesel no less. This tank is my daily driver. It's raised 6 inches and the tires are 35 inches. Which isn't quite factory (i.e. smooth). I drive 26 miles one way every day on my state's shitty roads, every day. PLUS: I…

does not stay in place

The design of the ball joint allows for more joint directions, but has the disadvantage that it is almost impossible to lock the position. The ball's smooth shape cannot be tightened with enough force to overcome slipping when hitting bumps or vibration. Attempting to tighten the two finger nuts up and down resulted in a slight stripping of the threads as it was barely long enough to start with. Also, the device knocks on the mount, which is terribly annoying. If they insist on two ball joints,

The mount looks way better than the suction cups and as an added benefit

I used the PerformancePackage mirror mount to mount a Beltronics 955 on my Porsche 911 (991). The mount looks a lot better than the suction cups and as an added benefit allows you to route the radar detector cable a little more discreetly. My only issue with the mount is that despite the "rattle detector clamp", it makes a slight rumble when going over rough roads. I've also noticed that the bracket loosens a bit over time and needs to be tightened. In addition, the rearview mirror mount has no

GOOD PRODUCT! for car and automotive electronics

Installed today in a Cayenne for an Excort 9800 radar unit. I also connected the radar power cable to the mirror mount so it only sticks out 6 inches to connect to the detector; The cable to the cigarette lighter is not hanging. After reviewing a number of competing products, I chose this product for the following reasons. Reasons: - the block didn't seem bulky, - designed for a car model's rearview mirror, not a universal mount, - there was mechanical flexibility to aim the detector in the…

Pros
  • is the best place to mount it!
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

I've always felt a sucker, the way my radar detector was attached seemed primitive at best. If it wasn't securely attached, it collapsed. If the suction cups were of any age, they would collapse. You take off the beakers to store the detector and there are ugly round ring marks on the glass from the inevitable saliva you wet them with. I went to Amazon to order replacement suction cups when I saw this mirror mount. The photos didn't really give a detailed idea of what I ordered, but I took the…
