I bought these socks for my husband to take to The Boundary Waters. On the first day he underestimated the portage and filled his boots with water. These socks saved the rest of the trip! He put them on and they formed the perfect barrier between his wet boots and dry skin! A++

- The order arrived in a few days. - Very nice packaging. - They look and feel very heavy, but my shoes don't feel tight. - Beautiful colors. My calf, pretty tight. - I haven't had a chance to test "waterproof" but if they keep my feet dry when walking in the rain, I'll have to deal with the tightness. - I can't imagine anyone having calves that small, hence the one star down in my rating.

I have had this sock for a year now. That does an amazing job. I haven't tested it yet by stepping in the water. But I mostly use them by putting on my Hoka trail running shoes (superventilated and porous) and then putting them on in the snow. I walk in the snow like a photographer. This allows me to walk in the snow in these grippy shoes without getting cold. My feet stayed dry and warm for hours. I like these. They're a bit like my wetsuit, but the most important thing for me is that my feet stay dry. They don't sit very well on the leg, but they are comfortable. I work all day on a ranch in a very dirty, wet area. My boots only last about 30 minutes before water gets in and they are waterproof. So I needed more. I did a lot of research before I bought them. 12 hours in the mud and 6" of water and my feet were dry! You should wear shoes larger than your norm. For example I wear a size 7

Waterproof socks have been around for a long time. But since I've seen them for sale, I haven't seen anyone sell them for their practical use, which I think hurts the manufacturers. Maybe someone does, but I haven't seen it myself. There's only one photo of a foot in a sock in the water, and they say it's waterproof. Should I only wear these socks then? I do not think so!
