still my favorite in cutlery and knife accessories

I have 3 other Rapala soft handled fillet knives but this is the first knife with a 9 inch blade. I'm by no means an expert, but I ride better with soft-handled Rapala knives. sharp, flexible and easy to grip, easy to sharpen. not too expensive, another great Rapala product.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • New competition has arrived

An excellent knife, the best in the kitchen and dining room

Watched the video "How to properly cut a trout and remove the bones". I keep hearing I don't eat trout, I don't like bones. With a Shore Lunch Box and Bake or Fry, everyone loves my fish and has almost no bones! I also bought a really nice sharpening set for leather belt knives. Use a plastic cutting board as shown in the picture. GBDD

Pros
  • understandable even for the old
Cons
  • Useless functions

The bolster doesn't fit the blade at all!

In my opinion the handle of any knife in any price range should be sealed around the blade, but especially a knife used for cooking. The small gap between the blade and the barrel of this knife allows liquid, fish slime, fish blood, bacteria, etc. to enter the area not to be cleaned and accumulate to be excreted later, increasing the risk of bacteria. Transmission. Other than that, it looks and feels like a quality filleting knife. That's why it's confusing to me that the handle doesn't match…

Cons
  • Not bad

Dangerously unhygienic design and handle too short.

The pack contains instructions on how to carve fish, hence it is marketed as a chef's knife. It's not like this. The silver handle end is hollow hard plastic. Not cast in place. Mine had a 1/8 inch gap on either side that rotting fish couldn't get out of. The blade is also the opposite of "full shank," swinging in a grip just long enough for a three-finger grip. The related American Angler Saltwater 6-inch Filet Knife, a white 6-inch knife, is similarly priced and has a molded, easy-to-clean…

Great sharp fillet knife.

Comes with a razor sharp blade. BE CAREFUL! The handle is made of soft but durable material with excellent grip. Sticks to fingers without being sticky. Last season I used friends to fillet venison, so I had to buy it myself. I easily filleted small fish, chicken drumsticks and deer. The knife also comes with a very nice sheath and a porcelain sharpener. I ended up buying 3 because as with any knife, if you hit the bone multiple times, the knife's blade will suffer and require a few quick…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Pistolless

When I received this knife I was dismayed to learn that the bolster is plastic not metal and that the blade is right after the Unpacking in the holder wobbles. It sharpened well and I have used it successfully to butcher four rabbits, but I have found the blade to be very easy to sharpen and needs to be sharpened very hard after each rabbit. It's not the most flexible steel, but it's not super hard either. I will say the grip is comfortable and not slippery at all even when wet and covered in…

As good as ever!

I have been using Rapala knives for 50 years. They are as good if not better than some of the expensive German filet knives I own but rarely use. I bought two of them, this model and another "Falcon 4". No difference except handle configuration. I think I like that better, especially with wet hands. My original wooden handle Rapalas are still in use and the blades are made in Finland. I don't think the quality of the steel is worse on new (Chinese) knives. Rapala knives are known for their…
