Not a bad product, but I expected a little more.

Almost the entire EFAX series is not well suited for real NAS use, especially in RAID/ZFS. Here you can read the details of why SMR drives are bad: %D0%BB%D0%BE%D0%B6%D0%BD%D0%BE%D0%BC/

Pros
  • A regular disk, suitable for archival data storage.
Cons
  • SMR recording technology, which means that with large amounts of recorded data, you will have brakes and the write speed will drop up to 40MB / s

Reliable purchase, guaranteed to be a good purchase.

1. Roomy model. 2. The noise level is insignificant (we can say that it is not there), compared to my other WD RE 4 TB (according to the passport noise level 31/34 dB) and Hitachi 500 GB (according to the passport noise level 25 dB in idle mode). Moreover, the last two models are quieter than the noise generated by the CPU cooling system (92 mm fan). And the noise of the CPU cooling system, in turn, I do not consider loud for operation in a quiet apartment (listening to quiet music, watching…

Pros
  • Fast, very quiet, low vibration, high volume.
Cons
  • 1. Doesn't know how to brew coffee. 2. High-frequency HDD squeak (~17.5 kHz) as, in fact, in many other HDDs (it is definitely present in my WD RE 4 TB /~19 kHz/ and Hitachi 500 GB /~18 kHz/, which I had no idea about before, until I built the noise spectrum). But in all the cases listed above, this squeak is audible if you bring your ear close to the device. From a closed case, this frequency practically does not penetrate outside (this sound is not distinguishable already at 0.7 m directly in front of hdd, and even more so with a closed system unit). 3. Not cheap, 15 k. Rub /10202222/.

The quality is top notch, be sure to try it.

Pros below: Large volume They say reliable) I have 2 such gnomes for 6 TB working for 3 months, 24/7. Cons below: 2 disks crash in synology. In the room I hear it, it's pretty noisy. I think it should be hidden in the closet

Disappointed with the purchase, useless products.

Bought 2 discs 1 year apart. After 2 years, first one failed, then a year later the second. They were bought in different stores, from which I conclude that these are different batches. Both worked in the same NAS, 24/7eJ under the same conditions and both failed after about 2 years. I made a conclusion for myself. At the same time, WD has also been working on 2 and 3 TB in the same computer for more than 5 years. There are 8 discs in total. Upgraded to WD 8TB Red. Let's see

Pros
  • Quiet
Cons
  • Unreliable

Great quality, happy with it one hundred percent!

Initially, a quiet and reliable HDD was needed, performance is not important, because what kind of performance an HDD can have. That means low revs like 5400 RPM with as few plates as possible. And although SMR is scolded, it is precisely at this expense that the number of plates is reduced, which means a decrease in heating and vibration. On the other hand, because of this, if you need an archive disk, then it is not bad, but if you need a consistently productive HDD, this is clearly not the…

Pros
  • 1) Quiet, barely rustling when recording, and it’s not audible at all, despite the fact that it is essentially in a server basket that goes outside installed in the desktop instead of three 5.25" slots. 2) Does not vibrate, the body does not tremble, the basket does not tremble and it does not tremble. 3) The coldest HDD that is installed in the desktop, at a starting temperature after loading the operating system at 28 ° C, with moderate work, it warms up to 33 ° C, and drops to 32 ° C without work, but here you need to consider that the server basket has cooling, and it is located just opposite the fan. 4) Since it has not yet broken down after 7499 hours of operation, I will now conditionally consider it relatively reliable, but this is not accurate. Nowadays, there are no reliable HDDs, there are only those that have not yet broken down and have already broken down. 5) It has not yet started to fail or require to clean the contacts, as it was with that old series of green WD 2TB. 6) Of course, the main and only advantage is the low price for the amount of memory compared to SSD.
Cons
  • 1) Low and unstable speed of work, therefore tests on reviews of new devices are irrelevant, as well as mine. 2) In continuation of the previous paragraph, not very multitasking. It can hang even while showing folders, for example, if you give it various tasks in parallel, such as checking torrents. 3) If it eventually breaks, it will be bad, for all HDDs, the main drawback is durability.

Used for Synology home NAS. Many write that it is slow because of SMR, but I have a four-disk array and video surveillance is not used, so there is a margin for speed. NAS is used to store shared documents, as well as video / photo / music storage in a fairly large volume with access from many places. The EFRX series was bought several times from different batches - almost all of them are already out of order. Extremely unreliable. The EFAX series hasn't dropped out yet. The temperature in the…

Pros
  • Cost, reliability.
Cons
  • No

Disk as disk. For 10k there is no point in complaining. Yes, tiled record. Yes, it's slow, but who seriously uses a hard drive for speed? I perform the system and critical tasks on the SSD, and then I copy the necessary files to the hard drive. RAID 0 should work well in theory, but I don't think anyone needs it in a home PC. Pros: Extremely quiet and energy efficient Fast on medium files of 1 - 10 GB Tiled discs are in theory more durable than classic CMR The cheapest "helium" disk Cons: Slow…
