These are the best flip flops (or slippers as they're called here in Hawaii). We ordered a size 12 which does not have a strap as shown in the picture but the description warned of this. The shoe is still perfect for my son, holding his foot in place with a cushioned sole and a soft but form-fitting style. We have been regular customers of this model for our 7 year old for a number of years. It took a while to get used to Reef's numbering system associated with advertised sizes, but once you get over that little hurdle you'll be fine. Reef doubles the sizes, selling 13/1 as 13, 2/3 as 2, and so on. We were hoping to skip a size this time as it grew past 11/12 and started ordering 2/3. Too big so we ordered 13/1 which is great there is room to grow. Keep both pairs because he will grow to the next

The photo shows the slippers without ankle straps, but when I received them they were with a strap. It's ok because I can just cut it off later. This is the second one I've bought, the next size up for my son. It is very comfortable, my son loves wearing it.
