    Easy to use (even with glasses), super easy to clean and reuse. Well-built, nice/comfortable foam-lined body, readability from 0% to 90%; easiest to read from 10% to 80%.

    Great tool for large gardens

    This product is good for seeing when my grapes are optimally ripe. I will also use it to determine the nutritional value of my homemade vegetables and fruits. This should be a good tool for creating healthy soil.

    Do not use for honey!

    Tried to measure the water content in honey a couple of times. You won't see anything above 80%. Sahara Desert. Honey requires 17% water (83% sugar). With this model, you cannot know exactly when your honey is ready for bottling. You need a model that is between 80% and 90% more accurate.

    Accurate Sugar Measurement

    I bought this refractometer to prepare for evaporating maple sap into maple syrup. I tested the zero on the water and then the brix on the natural store maple syrup. The reading was 66 Brix indicating this unit arrived properly calibrated and should be working well to help me achieve the quality I aim for when making my own maple syrup.

    Easy to use, not entirely reliable.

    Especially at lower temperatures, but at higher temperatures it gives a Brix reading about 10 points higher than a hydrometer when the maple syrup is ready. Mine isn't reliable for checking sugar levels at the end of the syrup refining process. And yes, I zeroed the refractometer according to the instructions before using it. East in use, not entirely reliable.

    Not suitable for honey

    I bought this refractometer to measure the moisture content of my honey collection. It's easy to use, but the Brix only goes up to 80. According to North Carolina state and regional trade fairs, the maximum allowable moisture content is 18.6%, which is 79.8 Brix. This inexpensive refractometer is not suitable for a hobby beekeeper like me. I regret the purchase.

    Good quality, works well, inexpensive

    And an affordable refractometer that worked great when I was making my first batch of maple syrup. Much more reliable than other methods. I can't comment on the accuracy as I have nothing to compare but my product is perfect. The manual says it's calibrated and I tested it with a sample of distilled water.
