A good hose clamp tool - saves time and nerves!

I love this tool when working on my VW GTI and one thing that annoys me a little is how easily one side of the printhead moves. Otherwise I like the tool.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Safety

Selection: Pliers

Great purchase. Every shade tree mechanic needs it, I don't know how I lived without it. Very durable, the only thing I would change is the ability to lock when the pliers are fully closed (small gap) and slightly less for tight spaces.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Pliers worked very well for me in a small space

When replacing the pump in my washing machine, normal large pliers did not work due to lack of space. These pliers fit me perfectly. A word of caution these weren't very large clamps so not sure they would work but the pliers appear sturdy.

Pros
  • Many positive emotions
Cons
  • Was damaged

The right tool for the right job

A decent pair of pliers at a great price. This is much better than using regular pliers to remove and install ring terminals. As with anyone who has used regular pliers or needle nose pliers to remove clips, it is always a chore and the darning always seems to slip or ruin the clips. Not with these pliers! Do yourself a favor and get the right tool that will save you so much time and energy.

Pros
  • Hands-free work
Cons
  • Crumpled

Renekton Ratcheting Hose Clamp Pliers

I have compared this tool I just received to my cable operated clamp breaker. It should fit all the clamps I've used a cord powered tool on. This tool should be faster and easier to set up. Its size and of course the price were one of the reasons why I chose this instrument. The job I did on the Ford Expedition lower radiator hose would have been a lot easier. I wish I had it then. With these pliers you have more control to keep your tool on the clamp.

Pros
  • Heavy Duty Construction
Cons
  • So So

The tool works well if the locking mechanism is not broken

This tool is a godsend for removing spring clamps from radiator hoses. I did 3 out of 4 clips on my Jeep Xj and it broke after the 3rd. I didn't break the stamped rivet holding the locking mechanism, rather than loosening it. If they just insert the screw and screw in an extra .05, this would be the perfect tool. I've tried to fix it to no avail. The rivet idea would work if they used an actual rivet and not just a pressed piece of metal.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Great for large clamps Easy to assemble small clamps

They're worth the money, but they're not as good as the little clamp pliers you find under the intake manifold. The locking feature is useless for smaller clamps and the tool is slower to use than pliers for these small clamps. Aside from small clamps, the tool is great for large radiator hoses and other medium to large clamps where the locking feature really shines. I no longer need a third hand to slide a large clamp down my hose. All in all I recommend this for your toolbox and also a good…

Pros
  • Easy to set up
Cons
  • Other interesting options are available.

Hands off and just buy!

For over fifteen years using deadlocks and vise grips on those spring band clamps automakers love to use, I've suffered and cuss when they pop out and punch out an unfortunate thumbnail with a large blister of blood. I got them as a joke before I rebuilt the timing chain and cooling system on an old Dodge and don't you know I actually prefer spring clips now that I have these pliers? The ratchet lock works as it should and had no problem keeping some of the thick 2" steel radiator hose clamps…

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Not a fan. Returned to using needle nose and channel locks.

I have struggled for years with constant tension clamps that use needle or channel gates so I decided to purchase a pair of pliers specifically designed for these clamps. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I have tried these pliers on three different clamps and unless you have 100% clean direct access to the teeth of the clamps you are better off sticking with needle nose or channel locks. The locking mechanism works. OK, but does NOT lock when the tong is fully closed, so…

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Crumpled
