Take the blank of the new holder to a locksmith

I took the blank of the new remote holder that I bought from Revain to a locksmith who cut the blank with my spare key. The cost of cutting the blank was $5. I then installed the module from my old broken bracket. Total replacement cost was $15.

Pros
  • easy install
Cons
  • weak

The dealer wouldn't touch it.

Told me a story that car keys are made of such and such and his expensive key cutter is ruined by this very durable blank key. I wanted to return it, but my only option was to "turn it in" and in Atlanta it's too hard to return for $10. It's useless, but mine forever.

Pros
  • Durable Finish
Cons
  • Discontinued Model

More additional cost for laser cutting blades.

that's exactly what is written. You have to take the key to a locksmith to have the blade cut off which cost me $35. The locksmith said that it was necessary to cut with a laser. I'm so tired of a broken key, I just got over it. The alternative is to contact a dealer who is not in my area. A little annoying.

Cannot be unscrewed

As others have pointed out the torque required to unscrew the shroud is ridiculous. It took me about 10 seconds to remove the screw from the body of my 15 year old wrench. So far it has taken 1 hour (and two people) to try to unscrew the replacement shell to use it and we're still to no avail. I'm not sure what the point of turning the screw that tight is, especially on a product that has to be unscrewed to use it. return of this item. And the icing of my hand.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Some minor issues

You need to cut this new key

I bought this key thinking I could take the metal part out of my existing key and use it with this new housing as my old one broke after years of use. It turned out that the metal key part was not interchangeable and I had to find a place to copy my old key onto this new blank shape. At the same time, even taking into account the cost of manufacturing a new key, buying it here was much cheaper than buying a similar model in a locksmith shop. The newly cut blank fits nicely on the door lock and…
