ONLY REPLACEMENT

If you're thinking of plugging an old keyboard or similar into a newer computer, think again. Device. You'll most likely need an externally powered USB hub for it to work if that's all. The description should probably emphasize this fact better as it applies to 99.9% of products with a PS/2 connector. Without exaggerating, there is only a very small number of products for which this would really make sense.

Pros
  • Everything OK!

Does not work in any tested configuration.

Didn't work at all. Tried multiple USB inputs to the computer and multiple keyboards, they all worked with a different adapter, none of them worked with this one. Luckily, I ordered a PS/2 to PS2 USB adapter, keyboard, and mouse splitter cable (7" long) at the same time and was able to get the job done. It was hoped that this more compact wired keyboard-only adapter would work in tandem with a wireless mouse. Thankfully, the tuition wasn't very expensive, and it certainly wasn't worth the…

Currently not working for 99% of products.

This adapter is ONLY a "replacement" for other keyboard/mouse adapters that ARE SUPPLIED WITH THE ADAPTER as part of their programming. This adapter will NOT allow you to connect an old PS/2 keyboard/mouse to your computer via USB if the mouse and keyboard are not already designed for it. Since this is a very, very small subset of devices these days, this product just doesn't help 99% of the people who buy it. I advise against buying this product. Just buy a cheap keyboard and mouse instead.

  • Easy Installation

Well it didn't work.

If like me you have an old PS/2 type KVM, you will have the same problem connecting "new" hardware to it. I only need a keyboard as not every running server needs a GUI - so that seemed "sufficient" to make sense. But unfortunately it had no effect. KVM sees the keyboard but no signal is sent to the device. The old triple mouse/keyboard connector plugs right in, so it's definitely a bug in the device itself. Luckily, it's priced right for what it takes to ignore sending it back. Just a note for

I bought a PS/2 keyboard for my tower, which only has a USB input.

I bought this item and then returned it because it was defective. I bought a second time thinking I just got a bad one. The second came and didn't work either. I tested my PS/2 keyboard on a PS/2 computer and the keyboard works fine. Something is wrong with these adapters. Maybe it's just me, but I suspect they don't work. The first return was prompt and the second I have to send back to my local UPS store. I am so thankful for the return policy. But I really want my PS/2 keyboards to work. I…

Not compatible with Windows 7 or some keyboards?

Failed. End of the story. I tried plugging it in after the computer booted up, I tried booting the computer with the thing plugged in. The computer never recognized that anything was plugged in. Then why am I giving it three starts instead of one? Because I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. See, I've seen reviews of these things saying they don't work on Windows Vista. And if it doesn't work in Vista, there's a good chance it won't work in Windows 7 either. Also, I've seen other articles…

This product doesn't work at all.

I have an old Microsoft ergonomic keyboard, the keyboard originally came with a PS2 to USB converter but I lost the converter when I found this item, he sees just looks like the one i lost so i ordered this product you know what? It doesn't work at all. As soon as I plug it into the USB port I see a light on the keyboard for about 0.5 seconds and that's it. It's just a waste of money. I plugged in all USB ports on my computer including my desktop and laptop but it didn't work so I ended up…
