Needs some work to set up

After some fiddling I was able to get this to work with my Raspberry PI 2. Touchscreen because it's resistive (with a thin film over the screen) and not capacitive, pretty accurate. This makes the display a little "shiny", but that's not a big deal with something like this. The 800x480 screen resolution doesn't work with many streaming sticks like the Fire TV. I wish it would work with that, but oh well.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Some minor things

I'm glad it shows HDMI from a standard Pi as well.

The light switch on the back wall was broken and parts of it were floating around the sealed back wall. No damage to the boxes so it probably happened before it even left the factory. I soldered the pads to the board, turned on the backlight and I could see my Pi booting. The right 1/5 of the screen is a white box. However, this is without any changes in the configuration of the operating system. I'm glad it will display HDMI from a standard Pi without any tweaks. I plan to use it for field…

Decent touchscreen for Beaglebone and PI

The touchscreen worked very well with the provided Rasbian image for Raspberry Pi and I was able to get it working with the default image with some effort. The black Beaglebone was able to The touchscreen will It is not powered from its USB port like a Raspberry Pi and requires an external power supply. However, the display worked without installing drivers.

Didn't work out of the box but very easy to set up. RTFM!

Won't connect to my Pi, originally had a flashing screen with white bars and no evidence of a touch surface. But easy to fix! Just burned the image from the DVD to another SD card that was nearby and the screen and touchscreen worked perfectly! Make sure you have a MicroSD to USB connector (or a workaround) handy to use the burner on your desktop/laptop. The PDF manual is also on the DVD, don't get stuck! When in doubt, RTFM.Quality feels good, the screen is compact and fun to play with. The…

Stay away from it: only works with old OS, can't update your device

The touch screen driver is non-standard and only offers a digital version: Upgrading your OS allows you to boot longer. They're basically stuck with the latest OS they've developed for (and they're over 6 months behind). There are other touchscreens on the market that use the standard touchscreen USB mouse driver, cost a little more but are not a problem. If you only care about the display, you can get it working with a simple modification of the config.txt, see the questions on this page. Used

  • Slightly torn

Based on the reviews I expected this touchscreen to work.

Judging by the reviews, I expected this touchscreen to work right out of the box unless I intend to use the touch function. However, when I plug it into my Pi and run it, it just shows a blank white screen with nothing on it (the only thing I know about it is that the screen is on). I'll investigate this unexpected behavior a little more closely, but if still no luck I'll undo it.

  • There's something to it

Great Display - Computer Components

This display works fine on my rpi 1 and 2. If you use it with rpi 2 you will need to change the startup display settings to get the correct resolution. Adafruit has a guide on how to do this. The HDMI cable is different from the picture shown and there was no USB cable in my kit. I didn't try to connect the touch screen part.

Pros
  • Great Selection
Cons
  • Legacy Model

Looks and works the same as the newer model, but the HDMI connector is in a bad place if you plan to use it with a Raspberry Pi in the same box. The other model has a connector at the top that allows it to sit on top of the Pi board without cables. I feel bad about giving 4 starts but it's advertised as one for the Pi board and I think the connector placement just doesn't add up. I googled the model and got the latest driver from their website. I didn't bother using the driver on the CD. Works…
