Perfect for Monarchs

We have purchased this for many Monarch caterpillars that we have had in our garden. We didn't succeed with the first batch, but the cage was easy to clean and we tried again! Just put it in the sink with dish soap and it's clean in no time! The second pair of caterpillars felt comfortable here and made their pupa on top. They had no problem crawling into this cage or holding onto the top. I had easy access to them through the top and side access. We even had one that had the cocoon fall off…

Small tears in mesh GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Weak and there were several small gaps in the grid. The gaps are large enough for small caterpillars to escape, so I am returning this item. Beyond that, the only access is to unzip the entire top. Ok while the caterpillars are young but once they form a pupa you can no longer access the cage. So if you need to feed other larvae or clean the cage (which happens daily), you will disturb the hanging pupa. *** *REDACTED: The seller refunded the purchase price for a smaller cage and then shipped me

The upper zipper runs all around!

An excellent habitat for beetles! We chose a larger rectangular habitat because it has a clear plastic viewing panel so you can see the bugs inside better. Otherwise, if you're looking for a cage that's not so tall, that's great! Our leaf beetles needed more space, but it would be great for caterpillars. My favorite feature is that the top opens almost completely! This makes it much easier to fit things into the cage. It's also good if the bug is on one side of the zipper as you can open it…

It's a little thinner than I thought but maybe that's my fault

The zipped 'door' is too small to use for changing plants or removing frass (caterpillar droppings). So I actually started using it upside down because it's easier to leave the "top" open and lay it over the milkweed. That way, if we need to change the milkweed, put in a new butterfly, or clean the flour, I can just pick up and remove the "cage" without breaking a single chrysalis, and put it back in without too much trouble. We used to have a big rectangular one that had one side open, which…

Very good quality and great educational toy for young scientists

My purchase was made for three reasons: to see the beauty of nature unfold before my eyes and to be able to tell my grandchildren more about nature to meet the needs of my 8 year old year old grandson who is our little scientist. This butterfly habitat is the perfect size for our small home, it's inexpensive but very well made and I love the idea that it has a palm sized zippered side door as well as a zippered top that allows for easy access for cleaning and maintenance. It is also very…
