Wide Range: CB & Talkback Radios

We tested them by driving around the block and estimating how far we could go. We could drive almost 10 blocks in Miami traffic and still hear each other perfectly from home and in the car with the windows closed.

It looks great in the pictures, but when you get it - TERRIBLE!

I wanted to love these radios but when they arrived they didn't work at all. The microphones don't work and this seems to be an issue in the reviews. The radios are good and the display is good, but if they don't work what's the point?

Great if customized to your needs. We used them for hunting.

Worked as promised. Large selection. The hardest part was programming the frequency for the channels. At some point we only got stuck in Chinese. Not intuitive when it comes to programming. There are no clear instructions. After some time we figured them out.

Retevis RT-5R Radios

Radios work well and as advertised. The battery lasts for around 15 hours of standby time, not the best but I can live with that. I have an extra battery, I keep it charged and just change it every day. I use it for work to communicate with my colleagues and it works very well. I bought 2 packs and am considering a few more.

Great for car trips

I bought these for a two car trip so we could communicate. These worked great. We have used the FRS radio frequencies to ensure we are not communicating on important local frequencies. We were in the mountains and still had a great signal. We always had clear communication even though we were never more than a mile apart.

Worked great on a huge cruise ship!

Purchased to communicate on the Allure of the Seas cruise ship. The ship was massive (17 stories) and worked well throughout most of the ship. The biggest problem we had was accidentally changing the channel/frequency mode without realizing we were becoming increasingly disconnected. The family also got a pair and we were all able to communicate very well. On the 6th day of the cruise we figured out the lock button so we always stayed on the same channel together. Highly recommended. Withoutโ€ฆ

I wouldn't recommend them unless you have a degree in radio and computers.

I was looking for a way to contact my remote facility about 1.9 miles (less than 2) from our office. The advertising seems to lead me to believe that at 8 watts this would be the ideal solution. A couple of issues: 1) We didn't get a programming disk with the radios 2) The addendum doesn't mention that we will likely need an FCC license to use them if necessary 3) The radios, although they seem to be very efficient, programming intensive and the menu navigation/programming is almost impossibleโ€ฆ
