Okay I don't know about burlap and the seller may have mentioned it in their description but this thing stinks. There was a disclaimer on the label: If you don't want your table runner to stink, you must air it out for 72 hours. I wish I knew, I wish I could see it if it were there. I was going to do it the night I got it but now I have to wait. GRRR

Be aware the burlap smell appears to be chemical in nature, is VERY strong and transfers to your hands when touched. Doesn't work for my table runner project. Loved the fact that it was already cropped to the 18 inch size I wanted, but I can't seem to get it on the table. I tried to get rid of the smell by airing it out overnight and using a bottle of Febriz. I will use for an external project.

I can't believe this burlap is for tablecloths, napkins or crafts. rags in the trash can. Second, when I took it out of my pocket, I covered myself with jute fibers. I looked like I'd just brushed two dozen long haired cats. I wouldn't even use it for gardening due to the unexpected smell of the oil.

It's definitely not frayed around the edges but sheds a lot: steppe runners flew through my house this morning after threading burlap through the screen door. There is a slight smell, it is recommended to be ventilated for 72 hours, so you cannot use them for the dining table immediately. I was hoping they would be a bit thinner/sheer than they are but they do the job without having to buy underwear.

The price was fair and the product arrived as described, but it would be helpful to know - in the product description - that the product should be before use 72 hours of ventilation. I may not have bought it as I only had 48 hours. The smell wasn't too bad but my (4 year old) hardwood floor had an oily residue. If I had known it was possible I would have shown the videos on the street. Luckily I caught him before he messed up the floor!

This 12" burlap free roll is gorgeous! I researched several burlap products before settling on this one. I've used it to cover standard ugly black flower pots (see attached photos) as well as to line our soon to be filled deck boxes. Burlap holds up better than coco lining and this quality allows water to flow well. It was also very easy to work with as it was on a roll and didn't really wear out. When I received my roll of burlap it was in a rigid roll, sealed in a bubble wrap lined mailing envelope. When I opened the shrink wrap, a strong smell of diesel/petrol hit me.
