eight years on the first pair :o)

I don't know how long they should last but I've just decided to replace the kit I bought in 2013. It's probably four or five tires.

Quality product, good fit

No complaints, solid product. For those having trouble getting the strips onto the rims, try a plastic tire lever. The lever can also be used to center the strip on the rim once in place.

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • Great price

It's worth it. Very high quality!

I bought these rim tapes with new tubes and tires. I will say this: they are of very high quality construction and offer good protection for my cameras without the spokes cutting. The ones I took off were very thin and came by bike. They are worth the price I paid for them.

  • Good
Cons
  • Obsolete

Replaced OEM rubber that split

Replaced OEM rubber that split I thought it was easy to install. I used a small screwdriver to center the tape on the rim once I had it on. This helped remove any wrinkles from the initial install. It covers the spoke heads to reduce the possibility of punctures from the inside. We replaced because the old ones failed and made it. gave us an inner hoop.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Not sure

Fasten them and keep going!

This is a great solution for rim tape. Suddenly I was getting pinch after pinch on my local trail. At first I thought they were spikes, but tiny holes that appeared in the tube confirmed they were bruises from contact with open spoke holes - it's time to change the rim tape! My WTB MTB rims are quite wide and cover them from side to side. , easy to install by snapping (just be sure to line up the valve hole on the band with the rim, they are easy to adjust and adjust when they wear out too)…

Looks like a professional product. Seems okay so far.

Used on a 20 year old bike with 26" x 2.125" tires. A blue stripe around the 20mm wide rim precisely covers the spoke channel. I used a short Phillips screwdriver to align the valve hole in the band and rim. Others here have used a valve stem to keep the valve holes in line. I climbed a bit just over the edge of the rim, the plastic levers for the tires helped, it was really nice to climb onto the rim. Part of the strip got stuck on the 4 spoke nipples and prevented the strip from being…

They can cause the inner tube to fail.

Rating changed from my original five stars. Two brand new Serfas spike-resistant inner chambers failed shortly after installation. The culprit: these rim tapes. Their stiffer construction and slightly wider patch actually caused friction on the inner tube. The first hose rupture was a 1/2 inch tear near the inside rim. I thought I had a broken camera with a vulnerability and installed a new camera. Failed again two days later. Not just a small cut this time, but a progressive cut that lines up…
