Wii/Wii U Rock Band 3 Wireless Keyboard: Ultimate Musical Experience Review

Great offer. I don't play games but I'm a musician. This is the cheapest velocity sensitive midi keyboard you will ever find. In addition, it runs on batteries. I'm interested in electronic music and needed a small, simple battery powered midi controller to play one of my synths. That works great. $20 and free shipping, no problem.

I didn't buy this to use as a game controller. I used it as a midi controller for my laptop. I found software online that allowed me to plug it in using the adapter that came with it, so I didn't even need a midi USB cable. That works great! And now I can make music on my laptop. Definitely robust, high-quality hardware.

I can't believe this thing hasn't gotten more press coverage. It's worth all the twenty bucks it's worth. My three complaints are that you have to use batteries, you have to hold down a key to change pitch, you can't change the MIDI channel, and worst of all, you have to hold down the key to change pitch change (why didn't they do the opposite? Well.

I use it as a midi controller and it's pretty good. The buttons stuck a bit on the first dozen presses, but after a bit of use they're firm. What's still not entirely clear to me are the speed channels. It maintained speed on some pianos I tried, and presets and octaves could be changed from the keyboard itself. All in all, this is a great little power knob to add a little nerdy to your show.

I originally bought this because my daughter wanted to learn how to play the keyboard. After a bit of research, I found that the Rock Band 3 keyboard could be used as a MIDI controller and that the actual playing surface didn't matter, so I bought the cheapest. When you try to use the PC's wireless interface, you experience significant delays due to some driver issues. I don't play computer games, so I have no idea how this interacts with you. However, I needed a small MIDI keyboard with a 5-pin MIDI OUT port to directly play some older MIDI modules while manipulating sounds. I was surprised when I found the build quality of this little keyboard. It's as durable as some of my small (made for music) USB keyboards. If you want If If you're using this for MIDI on your PC with a MIDI cable, you're out of luck with the Wii version. Keytar Rokker doesn't seem to support the Wii version of this peripheral at all. I've tried using this plug/play with the recommended drivers and even forced the installation of alternative drivers.
