🚀 Black Rocket Saddle Review

If you're looking for a comfortable saddle, look elsewhere. Bought to replace my 7 year old WTB Volt saddle. I bought this because he said it had more padding which I think means more comfort. Unfortunately, this saddle is just as comfortable as my seven year old saddle. No improvements. Overall, the seat is ideal for short trips where comfort is not important.

I've been riding WTB saddles for 25 years. Started with the original SST, then switched to Rocket. This latest version of Rocket has a stronger center. The old model had more "recoil". The form is the same. Took several rides to get used to the new stiffness. It's still very comfortable and light. The titanium splint version weighs 210 grams on my scale. Not cheap, but worth it.

I've been racing and mountain biking for over 30 years and have never been satisfied with stock seats. WTB is always my choice for seat swaps. This model isn't the smoothest bike seat, but if, like me, you have minimal padding (anatomically) in the buttocks, this is what you need. I wish the price of this item was a little lower, but it's worth it so as not to hurt your ass on every ride.

I rode this saddle for about a month. It's very comfortable when used with my soft shorts. I bought this when I first started mountain biking and thought my sit bones would ache for a week or two as they are used to being in a bike seat. This saddle was immediately comfortable. A little worried the extra padding would cause chafing but definitely not. The right amount of pillow without adding a lot of bulk. Some longer descents (35+ miles) and definitely good cushioning with no hot spots. The previous saddle felt like driving a 2x4 and this is a huge improvement. Not exactly a clean road or test, the Rocket strikes a balance by making it work anyway and rode one of the mtn bikes with spare wheels/thin tires used as can become a gravel bike. Saddles are very personal, for me the WTB has been used on many of my bikes and I've never regretted one. The material used and the design of the WTB saddles ensure a comfortable ride and can withstand any challenge. Be sure to measure your "sit bones" to get the correct recommended seat width.
