Heats and melts quickly.

Refill melted after about an hour and a half of use. We were cleaning an aluminum window frame and needed a small frame sanding tool. It had paint on the sides and caulk on the bottom. The seal worked fine for a while. On the paint, the tool seemed to be working hard and melting. I knew it was a weakness and figured out how long it would take for it to overheat while working on removing the seal. My guess is that the painted surface significantly increased the heating rate. Disappointed, only…

Very disappointed in a great idea.

I hate to disparage anything or anyone, but I can't believe Rockwell put this grinding head in the hands of longtime fanatical Rockwell supporters. I gave them reason to doubt when I got the first sanding pad and used it for about twenty seconds when it melted badly and wouldn't even hold up another sanding pad. So they sent me another one to replace what I thought was a one off bad part, but to my surprise it only lasted a few seconds longer than the first one. So what more can I say but I…

Too sensitive to last more than one session

Lasted 15 minutes before failing. There is a weak rubber between the metal and the velcro material to keep the pillow in place. There isn't much material on the pointed end, and that's the part that goes the furthest. So all power, with not enough material to keep it glued. resulting in poor design. The top third of this article didn't survive being sanded with 80's paint on a boat. The friction of the pad against the paint won and the rubber/velcro quickly dissolved, leaving the tip of the pad

Why can't they make working tools anymore?

This is the second batch I've bought. I had bought one a few weeks ago because I was renovating a chair that needed sanding in tight spots at the joints and between the slats. The FIRST was ruined after about 15 minutes of use because the little nylon pad holding the sandpaper had completely melted rendering the item unusable. There are no caveats regarding "this tool can heat up and melt the pad with prolonged use". It wasn't until I read another user's review that I slowed down and kept the…
