Broke on first use: Lashing straps

Installed on my trailer winch as a backup for my Drotto hitch. Was in Michigan this weekend and the ramp was too steep to use the drotto so I hooked it up to a hand winch. The boat was within 6" the entire trip and broke at 2. Luckily I was able to hop on the boat before it departed.

Pros
  • Forged hook, 10,000lb test
Cons
  • Nothing

This strap is not UV protected and therefore unusable for a boat winch.

I installed this boat winch belt about 6 months ago and it needs to be replaced again as it has deteriorated from sun exposure and I don't think I can rely on it. It faded to the point where it matched the old one I replaced which was 10 years old. My experience is that belts that wear to this extent also begin to fail due to loss of strength.

Pros
  • Heavy Duty
Cons
  • poorly designed

Exactly what I was looking for.

Purchased to replace the original winch strap on my boat after the stitching ripped and came loose loading the boat the last time I pulled it out. The strap can withstand 4x the max load of my old strap and almost 3x the workload so I hope this never happens again. In addition, the seams go much further along the tape than the old ones. The belt came on the winch with no problems and fitted completely onto the drum, although the belt is slightly longer than the old one. Overall a great band for

Great strap - stupid buyer - had to return it

This strap is fantastic. Made in the USA, 10,000 lb workload, ridiculously well made. Unfortunately I have to send it back. I'm a bells and whistles person and thought this would be a good replacement for the 20ft weak strap that recently snapped on my 16ft boat which weighs only 2000lbs fully loaded. Well the winch is too small to hold the whole strap and I'm not going to spend $100 on a new winch to hold the strap so everything is coming back. I would recommend this strap to anyone who has a…

Finally a piece of reason

A bracelet of very high quality. Much better than the strap that comes with Fulton winches. It has a looped end (common on most modern boat winches) that you insert between the winch spool and a bolt, into which you insert a pin to secure the webbing between the bolt and the spool. Made in the USA. Same strapping material as my heavy duty ratchet straps used to haul tons of hay on trailers. Very impressed with the quality. Despite the increased thickness (not to mention the width), a 25 foot…

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • No performance

I spent the day cutting large logs and stumps with the .

I spent a day hauling large logs and stumps with this belt that I installed on a 2000 pound Dutton-Lainson auger winch that I run with a drill press. I used to use a Dutton-Lainson 4000lb belt but it chewed up a bit in the winch mechanism and broke quickly. This one is much harder. I've used it to pull an 18" stump with a huge root ball loaded with soil (1000lbs and dug into the ground while pulling) and I've seen no signs of stress. Even with the increased thickness and 25', I was able to…
