Doesn't matter! They work GREAT

This is great value for money. We recently bought a new house with an old kitchen that didn't have soft-closing cabinets. Well, we quickly found that we'd been spoiled for so long we forgot how not to slam the doors. These closers were easy to install, no pilot drilling was required and they worked great. I was able to install them on all the doors in the kitchen in under an hour and they all work as intended. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because they're made out of cheaper plastic

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel

  • Problems

Yes they work as a closer for some time

I had to buy this replacement set because after 3 years the ones fitted during the kitchen renovation stopped working. I guess at $2 a piece you can't expect them to last forever, but then again with 20-30 doors in an average kitchen it costs over $50 every few years just so the doors don't close as hard. If they're worn out, it would be far better to make them repairable - maybe a kit with a new spring (or something) for 50 cents. It's a solid block - not sure how they do it given the plastic…

Works well to avoid bumps but not totally silent.

I have used these on my kitchen cabinets and on two full size spring return room doors. They needed two or three shock absorbers because of their weight. They look like metal but are made of plastic. I smeared some silicone grease on the case's mating surfaces to eliminate the squeaking some had from lightly rubbing the cabinet case's paintwork while closing. I had to back out the rear set screw almost all the way for the doors to fully close. They put extra pressure on the hinges so they can…

Pros
  • Quality Construction

  • Requires Socket

Two dampers per door may be required.

When first installed I was able to set my kitchen cabinet doors to close silently and they seem to work well. I had to adapt some to the maximum tension of the large closet doors so that they close silently. After a few months they now seem to loosen or lose resistance when the door closes on large closet doors as they tend to click a little towards the end or to close. The 22" x 28" oak/laminate doors are slightly heavier than standard. It may be necessary to attach 2 dampers to the door so…

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

An Inexpensive Way to Upgrade Closet Doors to Soft Close Closets

My wife and I are tired of our closet doors slamming shut from the hinges on the doors. We wanted to replace all of the hinges with soft close hinges, but that would have cost us several hundred dollars and a lot of work with all the cabinets we have. We bought them and thought it would be worth a try. We weren't expecting much to be honest, but we were willing to make trade-offs for cost and labor savings. After I installed one and set the tension properly, we were very happy with the result…

Apparently I need self-closing hinges - REVISION

Initial review: February 2109 - Product didn't work for me. My cabinet door hinges don't provide enough pressure (NO pressure really) to close them. Therefore, if the door touched the damper, it would not close without manually pushing it. I returned the dampers to Revain and replaced the hinges with self-closing, soft-close hinges that work well. So if my old hinges were spring loaded, this product would work for sure. UPDATE March 2019: I am revising my assessment of these shocks. My original
