📀 Rosewill ROD-EX002: USB 2.0 Aluminum External Slim CD & DVD Burner - Product Overview & Features Review

I love the look of this drive. It makes a solid impression of quality, but unfortunately it just doesn't work. It seemed to connect fine to my Ultrabook, but it won't open or play any files. I've connected to three different computers with the same results on both Windows 8 and Windows 7. Luckily, Revain allowed me to return the drive and get a full refund.

Bought this to replace my defunct desktop DVD recorder. I first bought two Samsung units which were disappointing and were returned (see my reviews). This device seems to be much better made and still works great. It works without any additional software supplied and also with the software already installed on my computer. Based on my first impressions, I would recommend this device. Hopefully it will work reliably in the long run

I've had the external drive for about two months now and haven't had any complaints. It was immediately recognized by Windows 7 Pro when plugged into my PC's USB 2 port. I've used it to watch DVDs and burn dual layer discs. While it's not the fastest drive I've had, it's pretty solid. In fact, a large and heavy object fell on the top of the case and I was concerned that this could be the end of the device. There are no dents and since then it has not worked as usual.

Works well. No setup required for Windows 7 or Windows 8, just plug and play. I've used blank DVD-Rs from 4 different brands and some of them only seem to work properly if you burn at 2x, otherwise they throw an error and you get a new good stand. At the moment Verbatim and TDK seem the best brands for this to be, Sony and Memorex are the worst. However, they all operate at lower speeds.

Overall excellent performance/results. Does the job, small and cute. It half opens and you have to hold it to close it again, but those are minor issues. The Nero software CD is not writable - you need to update it, so for me it was redundant and a waste of disk space.
