First clone of 2.5 " HDD to 2.5 " SSD worked great

Based on my first use of this docking station, cloning went well. I cloned about 900GB from HDD to new SSD. The process took about 45 minutes. My wife is very happy now. Now her laptop restarts in 28 seconds instead of 5 minutes. I'll update if anything changes, but for now I recommend this dock without reservation.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons

Almost perfect Best hard drive accessory

Advantages:1. Supports USB32. Has memory card reader on the front3. The clone button is located on the back, which prevents children from accidentally pressing the button. Supports 12TB drives and is defined as two separate drives. Cons: 1. Cloning function didn't work when USB was connected. Holding down the Clone button does nothing. This requires me to unplug the USB stick every time I need to clone. I am afraid that by doing this I may wear out the port. 2. I had to power down the device…

Solid Hard Drive Docking Station

This product is very well made, looks very solid and has a metal body instead of plastic. It works great on both my Windows desktop and my MacBook Pro. My two hard drives (1.5TB and 8TB) are recognized correctly and on a Mac it can be used to back up the time machine in addition to storing data, which is quite handy. This dock also offers two USB 3.0 ports, which I tested with my flash drive, I get a transfer speed of around 120MB from HDD to PC, which is what I expect from a USB 3 port. The SD

Works as it should

In the past, when my computer became obsolete and needed replacing, it took days and days to get it back to its original condition. Thousands of dollars worth of programs were reinstalled, tested, and repaired. Some programs got lost for various reasons and all that time, effort and money was required to keep what I had because the floppy disks were questionable. in slot "A", I put a new larger drive in slot "B" and after 6.5 hours I put the new drive back in the computer, turned it on and…

Great for sharing data between multiple drives

I bought this dual dock to share information, not necessarily for cloning. I work with several large media files and have three Mac workstations where all of these drives need to be shared between users. This unit has worked very well for me. I used to have several 4TB Porsche Design SATA drives with USB 3.0 ports and enclosures that were big, chunky aluminum enclosures - each enclosure required a separate power supply and USB port. This docking station allowed me to use removable drives…

Looks nice but didn't stay connected. (updated)

Update: When the replacement arrived everything worked as advertised. Now it always stays connected and wakes up or pauses on my Surface Pro 6 even when docked. By plugging it into the Surface Pro Dock, I can manage my USB connections with memory card readers and two additional USB 3 ports on the front. The separate power supply also means I can charge things through these ports even when the computer is off. I fly a few drones as a hobby. Both features are important to me, and the fact that it

Definitely worth the money.

I had my first job as an IT service technician and was using store bought tools and couldn't handle them anymore. The hardware cloning of this drive bay is specific, I took a 240GB SSD with Windows 10 and a blank 1TB HDD. Cloning from A to B took about 10 minutes, but once it was done I noticed it wasn't showing up under "This PC" in File Explorer. I went into disk management and found the disk was offline so all I had to do was right click and bring it online. After that, everything looked…

Great product at a great price.

I absolutely love this HD reader. "Excited about the HD reader?" You ask. Yes, I really do. I usually use StarTech readers. And they work great. About 6 months to a year. Then they break. Maybe it's me. I use them almost every day. I often switch from WFH and WFO. Even before the current pandemic. So I carry two 3TB drives with me every day. Sidebar: My IT department has determined that this is the best option for me. It's not, but I have to work with it. Now why am I in awe of these readers…

Poor quality control

I needed a faster external hard drive bay and a replacement SD and MicroSD card reader to keep everything looking perfect. No, that is not so. First you need to align the slices perfectly by manually pushing them aside to make them fit. No built-in help guides. Drive bay covers are useless as a dust cover because a permanent slot is cut in the shape of a 2.5-inch hard drive. The springs on these pointless covers put too much strain on them, requiring more strength than expected to overcome. My…
