These smooth, hard straws look really cool. They are a bit heavy but made of stainless steel. An empty plastic cup can easily tip over on impact, although the drinking cup should be well balanced. Firstly, no, the straws are NOT 1/2" wide, mine is 5/16" wide. Not sure how others measure 3/16" wide, maybe they're a little annoyed that it's not 1/2" and trying to give the product a bad name.
