The marble is cracked and quite brittle (read: a lot of marble dust from that thing). Looks good and we'll keep it. Replacing the wire is too expensive, so we bought steel wire of the same gauge at our local hardware store to save a lot of money.

Great design and idea, BUT. . . . . . When I opened the box, the screw holding the blade in place was loose in the box. WHY? Because where this screw holds the blade, there is no thread. I'm debating whether to repair it or send it back. I could fix that with JB Weld. I hope Revane learns some of these! This loose blade eventually becomes an obstacle for Revain.

Product size is 5.5 inches, not the 6.5 or 7 inches required for my cheese slicer. That suited me, and I started looking for a longer wire. Seller Doesn't Allow Returns I'm used to Amazon's excellent returns policy and this third party seller doesn't allow returns for ANY reason. For this reason alone I would advise against buying from this seller. Buyers be careful.

I eat a lot of cheese. And my marble wire cheese board is a gift from the cheese gods. Do you want a thick piece? Light. middle disc? Yes. Thin piece? Be careful but you can do it. When my metal wire broke, my heart broke too. Then I found these spare wires. I cut the cheese left and right. Another Chizapalooza was in progress in my kitchen. Cheddar. Gouda cheese. Colby Jack. pepper shaker. Even a friend named Jack. These wires saved me.

This thing couldn't even cut through a 2 inch thick piece of cheddar cheese without the blade bending on its own. I had to cut a bunch of cheese. I soon learned that if I cut half on one side, flip, and then half on the other side, I would get these concave slices with jagged edges. With each blow, the blade had to be reshaped. As soon as it touches the cheese, the thin blade begins to curve inward.

FIRST RATING: Hardly installed. Not tightened enough to hold. The wire broke easily. The ones that came with the slicer have lasted a long time. I now have 2 cables. food slicer works great. You can quickly slice a whole piece of cheese. It's easy to use. I enjoyed using mine. The only issue I had was that one of the cables was already connected and broke during shipping. Instead of 2 extra wires I now only have 1. The only suggestion I would make regarding the slicer is that it comes with a tiny brush to make cleaning the track easier and to ensure that the, what is done on the wire - some tags. a chopping board for slices of different sizes for those like

Added: I've had one of these wires on my cheese board for three and a half months now and use it to cut cheddar cheese. at least once a day. Today the first wire broke, which I don't think is that bad. This time I installed the new wire fairly quickly. I was hesitant to buy these wires because I didn't know if they would fit my old cheese board. They came and I'm glad I took the risk. This wire initially came with a broken wire. If the wire couldn't be replaced "easily" or at all, that would change the overall rating. It comes with two spare wires and it took me 2 minutes to replace the broken one (no instructions needed). It would be nice if they didn't connect the cord at all, but that doesn't change the product itself. I've used the cheese cutter several times and haven't had any issues. This is a great slicer; beautiful, durable, works MUCH better than a knife. It is almost impossible to cut an even piece for sandwiches/crackers with a knife. Get perfect slices every time with this food slicer. However, I took the sprocket off due to: (1) a broken wire and (2) a wobbly link assembly.
