The drive is strong, the cable is not very good.

Well, I'm a photographer who spends a lot of time on the road and in rough terrain. I took this before my trip to the Southwest because I wanted something more permanent. As for the drive itself, it works great. Took a few small drops and still works fine. The pouch that comes with it is great and makes it easy to keep the disc and cable together. However, the connection on the drive is almost out of order, the cable hardly holds on to the plastic cover on the drive, without it the cable slipsโ€ฆ

This is a huge improvement over my USB-3/Firewire hard drives!

Does not require a power cord, runs much more quietly, goes to sleep when not in use, you can restart the computer without forgetting to remove the drive, has a small enough connector to connect thin laptops. The only issue I can think of is that the USB-C connector isn't a built-in cable, the built-in cable is an old-style Lightning connector that's no longer part of the new Macs. The USB-C cable is separate which doesn't make sense to me as it will be a new port in the future. So why not make

Excellent value for money, very fast, especially when using TB3

Very fast, portable, convenient. My only issue is that there are two connection modes, Thunderbolt 1+2 and Thunderbolt 3 [USB-C], but the TB1+2 cable is hardwired and TB3 is not. It's not a big deal, but it does mean you'll have to carry a TB3 cable separately if you need TB3 speed. It's also quick to assemble and, in my experience, works great. I can't comment on "reliability" as I don't believe a drive should be mishandled and I certainly won't life test it. Note that this is a platter, so no

Attention buyers! This is NOT an SSD as the seller suggests!

I bought a Lacie Rugged 5TB USB-C Hard Drive because of the impressive performance and price of a branded SSD. However, I gave this review 1 star because the SELLER MADE THE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION WRONG! The product description states that it is a solid state drive called SSD. It also advertises a transfer rate of 510 MB/s. The box I received lists the drive I purchased, including the product number STFR5000800. But the box says 130MB/s transfer speed. hmmmm I hooked it up to the computer, pressed

Drive failed after 1.5 months

I ordered this hard drive because it was said to have excellent workmanship and life expectancy. I was initially blown away by all the specs, water resistance, drop resistance etc. I'm a photographer and marketer so these specs blew me away as I've had drive failures in the past and wanted to avoid having to pay for data recovery and the burden that comes with it . When I received the CD everything seemed fine. Robust disc, good weight, good design quality. I started using the drive as my mainโ€ฆ
