Great feature; However.

The product itself is great, from the packaging to the contents of the box it shows that Sabrent works hard to design and present their product. The case feels solid, the base and lid fit perfectly, and I had no trouble getting my Samsung EVO 860 mSATA into the slot. All in all a great feature; however, there are conditions in the recognition of the drive. <> When connecting via SATA or USB, the computer (see second <>) recognizes that the drive is connected, but does not recognize…

Would buy again. at Cables & Interconnects

The drama I read about this device was disturbing, but the price is worth the risk. Yes I have seen pictures of the DC-DC circuit where it has been destroyed and the pins have melted. away, no matter how convincing it looks, this device can't have this kind of damage without an external direct short, be it an extended screw the consumer used or some other modification outside the case. In my 50+ years of experience repairing consumer electronics, whenever a device appears to have sustained…

So far so good = no problem

Have been using it for over 2 months now and haven't had any problems. I used an old Samsung mSATA SSD and screwed the cover on with the small screws that came with it. What if I was picky would be my only complaint. Slightly larger screws that don't require a magnifying glass and little elf fingers to install would be better. Otherwise, after finally getting the screws in, I plugged it into my desktop PC's SATA port and it's been working fine ever since. I'm happy to report that the PC only…

Drill 20 holes

I've read reviews of these cases saying how hot the Msata drive can get. I've also seen some adapters that were open but twice the price. Since I installed it on my desktop behind the motherboard panel (no direct cooling), I wanted to make sure it stayed cool. So I took the top of the case to the power drill and cut about 20 large holes in it. Maybe you just couldn't use the top case, but whatever. It was the cheapest case I could find and seemed reliable. I was able to salvage a 256gb msata…

Essential when working with mSATA hard drives

Here are the pros and cons of this product. BENEFITS.1. It works as advertised. Insert an mSATA hard drive into the device. It will be a 2.5 inch SATA hard drive. 2. Aluminum body makes it very durable. 3. This is the highest rated mSATA to 2.5 inch SATA converter among users. The device is irreplaceable. There is no other way to format or create partitions on an mSATA.5 hard drive. The price is good. Mine costs $7 - item "Open Box". CONS.1. The included screws are tiny. Once dropped on the…

Great but. changes the visible device type; Samsung Magician

I bought one of these to upgrade my computer's mSATA drive to a new Samsung. Samsung SSDs feature "Samsung Magician" software that allows you to copy an old drive to a new device. The problem with placing my new Samsung SSD externally in this device is that the Magician software only replicates *onto* the Samsung device and this enclosure hides the actual drive type behind the adapter so the Magician software doesn't work with it. .I ordered this before realizing I had a second mSATA port…

Bought two of these, worked great

Bought two. I upgraded my SSD from 500GB to 1TB and needed to clone two mSATA drives. Insert both disks into one of them, insert them into Inotec Offline Disk Cloner and Viola! In 33 minutes, Inoteck cloned 476GB from my old SSD to the new one. Really appreciate the attachments guys! Well done, no problems. The only drawback is that it is not so easy to put two cases together. I mean it takes 20 seconds instead of 3 seconds. I only had to do this once.

Pros
  • Brilliantly done
Cons
  • Sad hardware

Great mSATA adapter (not PCI-E or NVMe).

Works great. Well built with two piece metal body. All screws were included (some other brands don't seem to include screws to attach the mSATA card to the board), as well as a screwdriver. As mentioned in the Q&A, the height is 7mm (not 9.5mm) - mine came with a foam pack which I was able to easily make a couple of pads out of. As mentioned, the mSATA version of this adapter is for mSATA and not M.2 (NGFF). So if your SSD is long and thin, this adapter is not for you. There is an M.2 (NGFF)…

Would buy again.

The drama I read about this device was disturbing, but the price justifies the risk. Yes I've seen pictures of the DC circuit where it was destroyed and the contact pins melted but conclusively which perhaps meant that this device cannot have this type of damage without an external direct short, be it an extra long screw used by the consumer , or any other change outside the case. In my 50+ years of repairing consumer electronics, whenever a device appears to have suffered damage, which I have…
