🔊 Sabrent USB-SBCV: Enhance Desktop or Notebook Audio with Driverless External Surround Sound Adapter Review

I have to admit I had my doubts. I have a Dell R710 server with no internal sound card. I bought and installed a Sabrent USB-SBCV external sound box. I then connected a spare set of 2.1 speakers and rebooted my server. This small external sound card worked perfectly the first time. Great sound quality and no frills. Exactly what I needed.

Not as good as other Sabrent products, I've never had anything but good from Sabrent, but this one has the following problems; intermittent connection, none of the LEDs are lit and quite low volume. I'm sure this is just one bad product among many good ones.

Great little USB audio system. If it says "no drivers" it was true, all I had to do was plug it into a USB port and connect my speakers (not included, you have to purchase them separately) to the headphone part and it just works! I love that it has its own little mute button and volume buttons on the smallest box so you can control your sounds via computer OR via this little USB sound system box here. On every computer I had! Works as advertised, detects as a sound card via PnP. Great for an old laptop with a dead sound card. Would get 5 stars if it included a small USB extension cable as it looks like it will snap off the side USB port unless you gently move your plugged in laptop. A little wiggle room would go a long way here.

I bought this after finding out that my 27" iMac doesn't amplify the microphone input. This rendered my headset pretty much useless for anything other than my Dell laptop I spend 99% of my day on a Mac and needed a better solution for Skype calls than using the built in microphone as it creates too much ambient noise and room reverberation. Use this because the headphone jack on my laptop broke. It is needed for online conferencing and everything else. Not a bad buy. It comes with a USB cable, so you don't have to connect your sound card directly to your computer. This way, you can still connect other devices to nearby USB ports. IMPORTANT NOTE. From my experience and reading other badly rated reviews, this product seems to have hit the mark a bit. On the one hand the sound quality is pretty good and even with a cheap mini mic I usually had a lot of hiss, the recording quality was great too. After updating Windows 10 on ASUS T100 Convertible Tablet/Laptop, there was no sound in Windows. After long attempts to get the sound adapter working again, I received this small sound card on a USB stick. Just plug it in and my sound will be restored! I haven't found out yet if it's possible to play sound through native speakers on the tablet. I can connect external speakers or headphones to the output of the Sabrent. It was also very affordable!
