I used this with my stereo receiver which only has a USB port and shouldn't have a hub connected to it. This hub works great with it and I can use switches so the receiver only sees one device at a time. I'm buying another of these hubs for my TV, which also only has a USB port. Although the TV works with a regular hub, it crashes when two (or more) identical flash drives are found. So with this hub I can control it. Or I can just turn them all off when not in use. These little USB hubs are great. I found a power adapter that works with it so I can connect a 2.5" USB hard drive from my tablet or connect a mouse and keyboard without the power adapter. Sabrent really seems to have mastered the art of building these little nodes at a science level. Separate switches come in handy when you're unplugging a flash drive or portable hard drive, giving you a clean plug-in and plug-out without worrying about fumbling with USB removal.

Works great from both the USB host and the 5 volt power supply I got from the dead tablet. I had another hub that I gave to a relative and I needed it to try out an SDR dongle android software. I've already tested the setup without a hub and just using an OTG cable, but didn't want to be powered by an Android tablet. Worked great. The hole at the end of the USB connector is the power connector.

Switches do not disconnect data connections from the computer, only power. When you connect battery-powered devices to this hub, they will still be connected to your computer regardless of the switch position. Some devices will switch to data transfer mode when powered on when connected via USB. I would like to be able to disable the entire connection without having to physically disconnect the device, but this switch doesn't help. I am an avid gamer. I fly flight sims and have a good setup for it including flight stick, throttle and rudder pedals (3 USB peripherals). I also play a lot of games with a controller. Aside from these methods, I also play games with the usual mouse/keyboard setup. The problem I'm having is that if I leave the controller or flight gear plugged in, sometimes they can send commands to my other games that aren't using them, even if I haven't set up those games to use the controllers. I only gave 4 stars because the hub I received didn't look like the pictures. However, the functionality is identical, so it's not that big of a deal. The hub itself has worked great so far. I test USB devices a lot with Android and having a separate switch for each port makes things a lot easier than disconnecting and reconnecting each device when I need to reset it. I use it for some old mechanical drives with USB adapters. Switches are great for saving energy and reducing noise. I also have a USB desktop fan that was made without a switch. Again, the switches on this hub are very handy. The LEDs are a bit brighter than expected. I put a small piece of tape on it to tone it down and now I really like it.
