This set of 12 should contain a 6 grain variant and 2 sponges each. It turns out I have 2 coarse, 6 medium and 4 fine sponges. None of them are marked, they all seem to be of poor quality - for example sand and sponge beignets.

If you don't need any abrasives other than those included here, this set will likely be the last sharpening tool you will ever need. Abrasive pads don't wear out quickly, but they don't remove material well either. I've tried sanding cast aluminum with fine, then medium, then coarse cymbals (after machine sanding with 80 grit), fine and medium didn't work. I've tried and tried with no success. 1. None of the 12 sponges are labeled (as one reviewer pointed out. Thinner sponges are difficult to tell apart), but if they are labeled, the cost increases.2. Smaller grits are significantly coarser than specified. More like 220, not 800. The two medium grits ("240-320” and "400”) appear to be exactly the same grit, even under a microscope. Return them and choose 3M instead which I can trust. Edit 6/11/19: It turns out that the 3M 400 grit ('extra-fine') sponges aren't all that different from these 3M 400 grit sponges and these are a bit rougher than 3M 400 grit sandpaper, that's more equivalent to the 500-600 grit sponges in this set. I've just started using them so I can't comment on their durability. At the small amount I used they seem to be decent. But here's the problem - 6 different grains, but none of them are marked and all are the same color. So it's easy to tell which one is rough, but then it's a guessing game.
