🔍 Accurate Measurement Made Easy: Salifert Magnesium (MG) Test Kit Review

FYI. My solution didn't turn blue until the dropper was completely empty. This = 1500ppm. High magnesium = sea salt which I use. The speakers say it's a bit high but should be fine. For seawater aquariums I use nitrate- and phosphate-free instant sea salt.

I currently have 3 of these at home. All 3 are brand new and all 3 give different readings. 1 says 1360, 2 says 1490 3 says 1570. So what is this? The jump in ppm by 200 points is enormous. I order a bunch of Red Sea Magazines to see where I am at all. I've lost all faith in Salivert.

Unfortunately this is the only tester I could find. Hard to understand. As for accuracy, it changes from one color to another as different drops of liquid are added. It changes to this color before I add the third liquid. Can make me believe there is so much magnesium in my aquarium that everything has to die. Since not everything dies and this test is off the charts for what they have I can only assume this is wrong.

First, these test sets cannot be sent in soft-side mailboxes. Received two test kits in a padded mailer and both boxes of test kits have been opened. I ended up missing a small spoon and a pink plastic tip. Luckily I ordered two test kits and was able to combine the two kits into one working test kit. These test kits must be packaged in a sturdy container such as a B. be kept in a box.

I have a 72 gallon Bowfront Reef tank. It is important to have the right levels of magnesium for proper calcium and alkalinity stability. This test kit is accurate, easy to use and read. During my first test I had no problems. That fits right in with the test I took at our state college. I was relieved to see that my test was identical to the state test. Imagine my relief when I saw that I had reached a prosperous and healthy environment. Long live the Netherlands! 😂

A simple and accurate test for magnesium levels in marine aquariums. I've been using this for years and it's excellent! However, open the package *carefully* - doubly so if it arrives in padded bubble wrap. The kit includes a red or pink detachable tip for the reagent syringe. This tip can fall off if the box is crushed. It's harder to lose if it arrives in a box. Return the product *unused* for a replacement if the tip is missing. This is necessary for an accurate check!

I previously bought a NYOS mg test kit which had a fairly low expiry date in my tank and showed low mg levels. I then checked my salt with Nyos and it reported low mg again. So I bought a new Red Sea Pro salt and again it showed less than 1100ppm. I received my Salifert mg test kit and my tank reads over 1600ppm and I know it must be true because I've poured almost a whole bottle of Red Sea mg into my 25g tank in the last 2 weeks , put Nyos due to the test of lower quality.
