Description of SaltyShrimp Shrimp Mineral GH/KH+ 100g: An Excellent Additive for Mineral-Rich Water

It re-mineralises e.g. RO water, rainwater, fully desalinated water etc. raising total hardness (GH) and carbonate hardness (KH) at a ratio of GH/KH: 1.0/0.5. Shrimp from habitats with a neutral pH do very well in water prepared with this mineral salt. Shrimp Mineral GH/KH+ contains all the important minerals and trace elements your shrimp need for their well-being, an intensive coloration, successful breeding and healthy growth.

Works perfectly! - Fish and Aquatic Animals

Most of my shrimp died when I first got them. I did some research and found that my TDS was too high. I found that most people use reverse osmosis water to successfully keep shrimp so I started using it and I use it to remineralize water, it works great! Bought new shrimp and all are doing very well and seem very happy! I even have a berry female waiting for the babies to hatch!

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Something else

I'm not sure why I waited so long to use

I have used this product in my Neocaridina aquariums. Usually all shrimp and fish will disappear for a day or two, sometimes longer after a water change. Everyone in the aquarium looked happy after using Salty Shrimp KH/GH+ in deionized water. Everything outdoors, like before the water change. I'm not sure why I waited so long to try this product after all the success I've had with their other products.

Pros
  • . Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Negative impression

Easy to use, stable parameters

My tap water is high in nitrates which is not good for me but also terrible for my aquarium. So when we got a whole house water softener and filter (we hate that water), I also have an R/O system under my kitchen sink. To remineralize and add kh to keep my pH stable, I took the plunge. It's easy to use, my R/O water is now stable (compared to when I bought distilled water and mixed it in my super hard pre-filter) and my plants are growing again! My fish are happy and now I'm hoping to get some…

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Expensive

Unreliable, wrong KH/GH ratio

This is my first time buying this product and although Salty Shrimp GH/KH+ seems to be a well respected remineraliser in the shrimp hobby I am quite disappointed. I systematically take a KH/GH ratio of 1:3 or even 1:4 instead of 1:2 (e.g. with KH 2 I get GH 6 or 7, with KH 3 I get GH 10). (As a reference, I use distilled water, which registers TDS 0, periodically recalibrate my TDS meter with NaCl calibration solution, and use fresh API KH and GH drop tests). Don't rely on TDS alone, check KH…

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • Communication with seller

I read all the reviews and discussions on other forums (aquariums, aquariums, aquariums with plants, shrimp farmers). *Nobody* can say anything negative about the Salty Shrimp brand. Shrimp farmers who keep the more difficult Caridina or Bee shrimp seem to like and rave about a very similar product called Salty Shrimp GH+. for easy-care shrimp such as cherry shrimp (Neocaridina spp.). There are not many reviews for this product. The reason for this is that many (I think *most*) people who keep…
