Samlex America SEC1230UL: High-Performance 30 Amp Battery Charger 1213.3002 Review

Just received the 30A model. I connected it to 8 AWG wires/clips and put it in series with 2 Trojan T-105s. I can hear the batteries breaking in, so that's good. The device got a little warm, but not enough to start the fan. the one in the garage.

For some reason when I search for a charger it doesn't show up, just a regular Schumacher charger. I previously bought a Century battery charger which was a real disaster. Now this is a high quality charger. I also like it because I could set it to 230VAC, 50Hz in addition to the standard 115VAC, 60Hz operation. However, you will need to do a little work to connect the appropriate cables and clamps, which are not included in the scope of delivery.

This charger met my needs and worked exactly as advertised but equally noteworthy the tech support was outstanding. I have had two opportunities to contact them (NOT due to a defect or charger issue) and the response was prompt and extremely helpful. I should also mention that the Samlex documentation goes well beyond the "minimum requirements" and contains a lot of very useful reference information. This is a high quality product well worth the price. I have several other Samlex products and they all work great. This is a limited amperage power supply that I can use as a trickle charger for a non-volatile battery and ham radio. The Samlex America (SEC1230UL) 30A charger charges my two 225Ah Trogan T105 golf batteries in about 4 hours in three different stages. It's worth every penny knowing that my T105s are properly charged to ensure they last a long time. Don't skimp on a true three-stage autocharger.
