Best hand sander, the best of hand and power tools

This is my second sander of this type and has replaced another and less useful product. I like to have two sanders, each with a different type of sandpaper. When my old and less desirable grinder broke it wasn't difficult to buy a second one. I now have two of the best grinders I have ever used. They are very easy to insert and hold the paper very well. With this mill you can easily cut entire sheets of paper. Another great thing is that you end up with very little unused sandpaper when using…

  • Reduces sandpaper waste by 36% compared to traditional rubber blocks
Cons
  • Has been damaged

Not designed for 1/3 sheet sandpaper

The block is well made and the clips for holding the sandpaper are easier to use than other types of sandpaper and apparently hold sandpaper firmly enough. The main problem is that the flat grinding surface of the block is only 2 5/8 inches by 7 3/4 inches. The size of a 1/3 sheet of sandpaper is 3 5/8 inches by 9 inches. The block is too narrow for the sandpaper, and 1 1/4 inches total for both ends of the sandpaper to attach the paper to the block is very tight. Maybe those who rated the…

  • Save money by using cheaper sandpaper for smooth surfaces
Cons

Broke after 2 uses in 1 year

I didn't expect it to break so quickly. I have used this item twice in the last year and the third time something strange happened. One of the clamps failed and at first I was confused, but upon inspection it was clear that it did nothing as I twisted the lever to tighten the clamp on the sandpaper. Something internal, like a camera, failed and the device didn't pick up the paper at all. It's sad to see a product fail so quickly. I have to remove the rubber base to secure and fix the device…

The best sanding block I've ever used! Should have!

I bought this to replace my cheap rubber block for port freight. All I wanted was something that used more of the available grinding surface, allowed for quick blade changes, and was strong and comfortable to hold. I got this block and I just said WOW! He met all of those criteria, and then some. Now I can use about 95% of the sandpaper instead of wasting almost half of it. Reed changes are quick, easy and intuitive. The block is very comfortable to hold, which gives me a secure feeling when…

Definitely a time saver and a really great sanding block

I don't usually write reviews but this time I felt I had to. Throw away those little black rubber blocks with spikes that are holding the sandpaper. This sanding block is the bomb. I bought this in the middle of a boat gelcoat restoration job. I started with small black rubber blocks. I used wet sandpaper. First with 150 or 220 grit, then 400, then 500, then 800, then 1000, then 1200. I used several small pads for different grit paper because it was easier than switching paper between grit…
