Not too impressed. I was excited to try them because an artist friend was amazed by the color quality. Maybe their kit is different from mine, or their batch had more pigment than mine. But honestly, for the same money you can get Staedtler watercolor pencils, box of 36 colors (14410ND36), they are €13 cheaper, the colors are stronger. I also really hate when they don't color the outer pin with the base color. This is a HUGE pet nuisance of mine. I knew that was the case, but I thought if they…

Pros
  • Pigments have excellent solubility for a smooth application
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

WHERE WAS MY ALL LIFE? I've always used Prisma Scholars or Prisma Soft Core and when I found these Prisma watercolors that can be used in adult coloring books (judge for yourself!) I was all "this is perfect!". Yes. Yes! Mixing is very easy and unlike softcore I don't keep breaking them. They are comfortable to hold and have excellent coverage. I colored the whole image with 6-7 different colors and only had to sharpen one so far. They have a strong pigment, so using them with a light hand is…

Pros
  • Combined with a brush and water-soluble cores, you can blend flowing liquids and achieve shimmering effects
Cons
  • Expensive

the world would be a better (albeit more expensive)

If everyone but Prismacolor stopped making colored pencils the world would be a better (albeit more expensive) place. These are VERY smooth colored pencils. Like colored oil on paper. And these are by far the best watercolor pencils I've ever used. They're so water soluble that you can't even see the pencil marks when you're done. It looks like a painting; no crayon, lightly drawn mush. They blend incredibly well both wet and dry and if you're a grown color enthusiast the gradient effects are…

Pros
  • Rich, fade-resistant colors are great for coloring adult books
