I bought this scope without realizing it based on reviews from others but mostly because of the $300 retail price. However, in terms of features and specs, it looked very attractive, so I didn't think it was that bad. I was looking for a small, easy-to-use camcorder to record videos of my family. The old tape recorder we had became too bulky to pull out. This Xacti HD700 camera exceeds all our expectations. I bought this camcorder despite the many negative reviews. VERY SATISFIED and not disappointed. Similar to Joz and Visor Blue's comments, if you learn how to use it and follow Sanyo's advice as well as just a glimpse, you'll get great short videos and great photos. It doesn't have a viewfinder so you can frame and focus the image/video on the screen. It takes a little getting used to, but very easy with practice.
