Basic Starter Kit

The quality is ok but not as bright as other more expensive brands. Suitable for beginners as a marker for actual watercolor painting.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • A nuisance

Not soft enough for watercolor

4 watercolor pencils, they almost don't apply enough color. The lead in these pencils is too hard to just do a good job. They do a delicate job when wet, but the packaging says not to get them wet.

Pros
  • Special offer
Cons
  • There are problems

Great for the price

These are very nice colored pencils and a great lot for the price. There are two of each color for a total of 36 colors, which is a wide range of colors and shades. Also, they don't break as easily in a sharpener (or at all) as other brands of crayons I've bought. I am happy with this purchase.

Pros
  • Can be used wet or dry.
Cons

Sargent watercolor pencil set, 72 pcs.

Firstly, this is not a 72 different color set, there are 2 pens of each color. The colors are very faint and hard to see, they generally don't match well and adding water doesn't help. I found them pretty useless and ended up giving them to 4 and 6 year olds who live near me as toys to play with. In my opinion, after trying them, that's about all they're good for. There are at least 2 pens of each color and I gave them to two children so they each have their own set.

Pros
  • Create whimsical drawings and achieve brilliant effects.
Cons
  • Packaging is ugly

Ok, but I was expecting a little more.

I love to draw and paint. I have 12 Mondulez watercolor pencils and I really like them. From the brightest of the light to the darkest of the dark. I was going to buy a set of 72 but the price is outrageous ($31 plus $18 shipping) so I opted for the Sargent set. They're good but not as good as Mondulez. Brand. It's really hard to go dark with them and there are often two or three of the same color in the pack rather than 1. Not a bad set but I was expecting a much wider range of reds browns…

Pros
  • Pencils 7" and sharpened. Lead 3.3mm.
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly
