Sauder Beginnings Bookcase with 5 Shelves, Brook Cherry Finish Review

I bought this 3 shelf version and it's fine. I decided to try a bigger one. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money and effort. The shelf came with no instructions, a piece was dug out and when we finally assembled it it literally broke in half before we even put it where we wanted it.

I would like to buy more extra shelves because I only use them for clothes (not books) but the company didn't want to sell the shelves directly to me because of their logs (understood) So me just bought additional shelves from Target and they fit well. I am very happy with the width of the bookcase as it fits perfectly in my bedroom

The bookshelf fell apart 7-8 months after purchase. I'm surprised because I've always found good Sauder products. The bookshelf is in two pieces which was also a surprise as they are usually one piece. The top part fell off completely when we tried to move it. I will not buy food there again.

Very weak. Don't buy if you are looking for something that will last. The lining is already torn. I had to use a construction stapler in addition to the included nails to hold it in place. If I had time to take it apart and send it back I would, but it probably won't take that long. If it breaks, I just write it off as a waste of money.

This was probably the worst purchase I've ever made. I would have returned it but didn't realize it wasn't worth the money until I assembled it and then what could I do. It wasn't easy to assemble, not terrible, but nothing goes right and it shakes horribly. The backing to make it less wobbly is cardboard which I don't want to use on any of my furniture and isn't well cut. It's active and now I need to find a way to protect it outside of the safe tab they provide so it doesn't fall :(

This bookshelf looks good in the picture but doesn't even deserve one star! We assembled it according to the instructions and when we tried to use it the top half flexed one way and the bottom half flexed the other. It wasn't strong enough to hold, much less put anything on the shelves. My husband went to a hardware store and bought brackets and brackets and was eventually able to build a shelf for us to use as there was no way at the time to take it apart and return it. I have never seen such a cheap bookcase. The back is made of 3-fold CARDBOARD! They provide a wall mount that attaches to the top, bends up about 3 inches, and screws into the wall. This is visible unless you are standing within 2 feet of the front. You can't use a toggle switch because I noticed the back is CARDBOARD!
