Great sideboard and great price.

I found an Edge Water desk and should have had a side filing cabinet to match. I ordered them together and assembled this filing cabinet first. I read the instructions twice before beginning the installation, labeling all the parts and placing the devices in individual cups. It took a little less than 2 hours to install and it turned out very nicely. I customized the fronts of the filing cabinet drawers and they look absolutely perfect. This cabinet comes with drawer hardware and is ready forโ€ฆ

Okay with some modifications

I practice law and use this for my foot files. I keep it deep filled with legal sized red wells. Some files are overloaded with documents. After a while, the bottom of the boxes sagged and eventually jumped out. Not perfect, but understandable considering it's all chipboard. Each drawer has a 1/2" cutout. I cut out two pieces of plywood, one for each drawer, and attached them with wood screws. Problem solved. Now the boxes don't flex under the weight. Other than that issue, this is a good oneโ€ฆ

Pros
  • is understandable even in the old
Cons
  • boring packaging

A very good piece. but I understand the ratings!

I bought this item because I have a lot of Sauder items. I like the way it looks. I like the darker color. I have 2 small dressers and two 53" tables. I bought a matching 65" desk (not assembled yet), this filing cabinet and a bookshelf for my new home office. This part was lighter than the bookshelf but still took over 3 hours to complete. Directions are very clear. Nothing is unclear about this if you take the time to study the images and their comments. It's nothing that needs to be movedโ€ฆ

The wood lays down well. How can you determine where the .

How do I start? First, the instructions are vague as to which direction some parts should go. Be prepared to take the piece apart, flip it, and then reassemble it. The whole thing took about 2.5 hours. They gave me a lot of extra screws but 2 of the ones I needed to finish were shorted out. The rest was short. Luckily the garage has some extra hardware so I ended up with some screws that were "close enough". The guide that prevents the drawers from opening is complete nonsense. It locks almostโ€ฆ

Look elsewhere for everything you need for your filing cabinet

This filing cabinet looks really good and that's where the positives of this unit end. The rods that hold the binders are not fully fixed, so the binders simply fall off the rods. So I figured I could just use it as a series of boxes. Not correct. The bottom of the box is made of plywood about 1/8 inch thick that fits into slots in the bottom of the box. I put some books on the floor and it fell out. This happened to both boxes. We took out the bottom drawer to fix it and the inner track thatโ€ฆ

I love my Sauder Home Office filing cabinet.

I've had it for about six months now. It's heavy but durable. There were no problems assembling the closet. There was nothing wrong with that. I have all my business and household files, extra carbon paper and a large printer on top. The style is very pleasing and mostly matches the Sauder bookshelf I bought around the same time. I've never had a problem with anything I've ever bought from Sauder. Knock on wood. Or chipboard in this case. My drawers are aligned, slide smoothly and pull outโ€ฆ

  • Easy to use

Good filing cabinet for the price

I bought this because I had an old metal filing cabinet that just clashed with everything in my office. The side style just looks stylish. So for $200 I thought why not? Pros: The price was good. It came completely disassembled but came with instructions and screws etc to put it together. The only thing you need is a screwdriver. Everything was labeled and easy to find in the box. If I could build it myself, most people could too. The wood (MDF) was very heavy and durable. Done as well asโ€ฆ

Probably the best non-solid wood product you can get

I bought this Sauder Edge Water Lateral Side File for $205. That. Excellent finish and style. - Because it is not a real tree, it is a very heavy and durable item. It's fine if you *just* hang files in it, since nothing really sits underneath. However, I was hoping to keep my stationery in the top drawer and now I have to be careful not to overload it. If it wasn't for that I would have given 5 stars. - It took a long time to install. Much more than 3 hours. The trim around the pre-drilled hole

Pros
  • Brilliantly finished
Cons
  • Poorly thought out
