Cannot be programmed: Anti-Theft

Bought these key fobs for my 2010 Dodge Ram. Programming instructions were included with the keys. Seemed simple enough until you read the fine print below stating some keys don't get programmed and need to be taken to the dealer. Of course, my truck is one of them. Too bad it wasn't listed in the description before I bought the keychains!

You can't program them yourself

When I ordered I was told you need a working remote control. When he arrived he said you needed 2. If I had 2 I still wouldn't have ordered another. Nonetheless. I contacted a locksmith who could program it for me for another $100. He said I couldn't program them myself. Bottom Line: Be prepared to pay for the program out of your own pocket after purchasing the key.

  • One year trial

Worked for me!: Keyless entry systems

I had to make several calls to local locksmiths to find one with a reasonable programming fee, but when I found a guy he programmed both fobs for $50. It's worth it in my opinion! I looked for instructions on how to program it myself, but it just didn't seem feasible (how the hell did you hit the panic button with the key in the ignition?!). After that, I didn't even look at the instructions that came with the new keychains.

Save MONEY!

After unsuccessfully trying to program my FOB (2009 RAM 1500), I had to leave my truck to a local. It cost me $30 that he spent 10 minutes setting it up, but now I have four keys. In the end, these replacement FOBs are worth their money. Good quality and good range. Just understand that sometimes, even if the user manual says you can program it yourself, you need to find someone with a scanner to do it for you. But hey, it's still a lot cheaper than stealing!

Perfectly programmable for 2009 Dodge Journey

We have a 2009 Dodge Journey and the key fobs fell apart. One key fob showed a bad key in the ignition so I took it apart and saw the wire was broken so I wrapped it in clear tape and only plugged it in for programming. The instructions were 98% accurate. The only difference was the timing of the audio gauges. Anyway, as soon as I plugged in the new programming key, it read the key perfectly. It cost $200 to buy two new keys and have a locksmith program them, instead it only cost us $19.99…

Remote Control Not Working For 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan

This product states that it can be used for 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. However, this is not the case. I only found out that it was incompatible "after" calling a locksmith to program it. The locksmith made it clear to me that the keys are not compatible or intended for a different car than the one I bought them for. I've re-ordered the keys and sent them back to be safe, but I'm not happy about having to "call" the locksmith "again" to try new ones at my own expense. Buyers, just make 100% sure…

Got 2 keys both programmed for only $30!

I bought 2 fobs but I only had 1 fob and the instructions say 2 fobs are needed for it to work otherwise you have to go to the dealer or locksmith. I saw that Ace Hardware can now copy keychains, so I went up to them and asked how much it would cost to get both keychains working. He said I had already bought them and said he would charge me a $20 service fee. He went to my pickup, pocketed his tools and programmed both remotes within 5 minutes and then tried them out and both worked great. I…

They work!: Keyless entry systems

Worth the price. My only key fob broke on my truck and I'm stuck. We bought them but found they require two WORKING key fobs to program them. Had to tow my car to the dealer. They hooked up a computer and were able to program them in about 10 minutes. They really work! I was glad I didn't have to shell out a lot of money to the dealer for a factory. I have yet to cut the keys but I was very happy with it. The dealer didn't even charge me for the programming. Get them as spares before it's too…
