The company seems to be focusing on the wrong things.

They seem to be focused on the wrong thing. They invest in software companies, but their portfolio is completely dominated by internet-based businesses. They're trying to transform how we work, but the idea of working differently is so new that the vast majority of their investments aren't helping anybody work better. I've been through several interviews there and they just don't understand anything about startups or founders at all. Their questions always assume you know something when you…

Pros
  • Great UI
  • Lots of funding, good talent pool
  • No equity, no vesting cliff, unlimited runway (at least until 2020)
Cons
  • The first two years are brutal
  • They won't invest unless they already have $

This was my first experience with a VC firm.

This was my first experience with a VC firm. As a founder, I was looking for investment advice and a way to help guide my business towards success. At Scale, I got exactly what I wanted and more. I found that I was connected with other entrepreneurs who had common goals and similar problems. It made the experience so much better because I didn't have to explain my situation to a bunch of strangers. Instead, I could get advice from peers who knew the industry inside and out. They gave me a lot…

Pros
  • As a founder, I was looking for investment advice and a way to help guide my business towards success
  • If you're interested in meeting other startup owners and learning from them, go to Scale
Cons
  • It doesn't have all of the functionality of other analytics tools
  • Doesn't have all of the functionality of other advanced analytics tools

I'm not sure if this is a bad thing, but I feel like the term "automation" was overused and misapplied here. Automated marketing is pretty much what this company does. It automates processes around lead nurturing, and sales enablement. This is a very interesting approach because there are few ways to automate sales process outside of a CRM. And since this platform is based on SQL Server, it also means that it could scale quite well. But while it may have great potential, I would say it…

Pros
  • There's no limit on the amount of leads that can be tracked in one campaign
  • You can define the rules and triggers for each one independently and add them to your schedule as needed.
Cons
  • No customization - Your own unique campaign must follow exactly the same rules as every other campaign created by the system.
