Good antenna for ranges less than 35 miles

This antenna has a surprising range of about 35 miles when more all you get are incredibly broken transmissions. Starcom21 VHF and 800MHz frequencies

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Works great BUT packaging is terrible - antenna bent 180 degrees

Works great. But the package inside the envelope was creased 180 degrees in the middle. It's a metal antenna. Judging is difficult. Bad packaging! I had to fix it. Not perfect but works well.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Frequency

Great for VHF and UHS in rural areas VT

After trying several different inexpensive mobile antennas, this antenna is the best for both VHF and UHF fire/ems and police scanning here in Vermont . I use it in conjunction with my Bearcat 355N and it works great. If you're only scanning UHF in an urban area, you might not need this, and just a $10 UHF window antenna might be fine. However, if you live in a rural area and are scanning UHF and UHF in a car/truck, this antenna is for you. .

Pros
  • Fun
Cons
  • Negative is present

Great little antenna for radio scanners

Finally a low profile, multi-band antenna that adequately picks up LOW VHF frequencies! The higher frequencies are designed for good reception on the 800, UHF, and VHF bands. But what I missed in So.Cal on TWO earlier streetcar antennas (less than $20.00 each) was picking up low VHF frequencies in the 39.00-40.00 frequency range and in the 42.00-45.00 range for CHP . Received AM aircraft frequencies were much stronger compared to other brands. The goal was to have the lowest possible profile…
