Best value for money in door hardware and locks

The lock set was easy to replace. The back wall is smaller than the original. There were holes that needed to be filled. It was much cheaper than comparable products.

Pros
  • Exposed screws
Cons
  • Not bad but...

Unsafe for door handles

Used for public bathrooms. It was only recently discovered that the outside handle unlocks if you twist it twice. The girl inside was not very happy. It's a privacy lever

Pros
  • Exposed screws
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Bought two, both broken

Have continued to buy these to replace those in their respective doors. But they kept breaking, so I chose an unnamed brand instead. Shalga should be ashamed of their poor quality, especially considering the price.

Pros
  • Fits standard doors
Cons
  • Very expensive

New changes and a little sad about the size

Overall great product but the flange was smaller than my original. I noticed that these new models are now smaller. My original door flange is 3" and this one was 2". So the shadow of the round flange is visible but overall the product is great.

Pros
  • ANSI/BHMA Grade 2 certified
Cons
  • Available in white only

Not suitable for an industrial house

Living in an industrial house does not allow you to "perfectly" pick up every substitute element. The sign on the door is not recessed but does not interfere with closing or locking the bathroom door. In general this is a good doorknob mechanism as industrial houses are a different size than the rest of the world.

Pros
  • field double-sided not manual
Cons
  • clarity

Fits perfectly with my existing fixed door handle on French bedroom doors

Great product. Matched my old one with a french door and works fine. Insanely easy to install if you replace the non-locking handle with this one. Two screws need to be loosened, the outside and inside handle swapped out, and the parts reattached. The swap took less than 1 minute as I was replacing a non-locking handle with the same model but with a lock.

Pros
  • Easy installation with one tool
Cons
  • Weight

Poor quality materials that bend and stop working

We purchased several of these materials and all but one stopped working properly in less than 3 months. The button inside either stops working completely or is released when the outside handle wobbles. After removing the lock and seeing what went wrong, the internals were bent and clearly poor quality metal. I am very disappointed in this lock.

Pros
  • Door area 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 in.
Cons
  • unreliable

Not compatible with older models

In 2014, Allegion acquired Schlage, seemingly destroying the quality of this once-trusted brand. Older devices had nicer finishes with rounded edges, which created a nicer feel. The new ones have sharp edges that are uncomfortable to the touch. The old ones once had smooth rotation and clear locking mechanisms. The new ones have a gritty feel when the lever is twisted. The old ones were once brushed to a fine finish and shiny appearance. The new ones have a coarse grit that looks a lot cheaper.

Pros
  • ADA Compliant
Cons
  • Frequency
