Definitely Heavy Duty

The parameters for my pencil sharpener search were something reliable, durable and affordable, but not "cheap". The sharpener is only needed occasionally, but shouldn't be out of date in a few years. The School Smart Sharpener definitely fits my needs and I have to say "Heavy Duty" is the right description. If you're looking for a quiet sharpener, don't even consider this one. The sound of a pencil being sharpened can be likened to the sound of a piece of oak going through a wood chipper…

terrible sharpener; Overheated after a few uses

This sharpener is great for sharpening pencils occasionally, but I've had to sharpen a lot of pencils. I was sharpening maybe 5 pencils or so and then it overheated and stopped working. I have a School Smart Vertical Pencil Sharpener School Smart Vertical Pencil Sharpener 6" x 4" Electric that I like and has lasted 3 years. But over time it became dull and worn.
