Compact, easy to use

All you have to do is plug it in and insert an SD card. It comes with a USB cap and an SD card cap, making it easy to keep clean and secure when you're on the go. This would be ideal for those with a laptop that doesn't have a built-in SD card slot, or if you simply travel a lot and can't always rely on a memory card reader. It's very compact and fits in any camera bag or briefcase, anywhere you have a small slot. When you insert an SD card, the red indicator will turn on and flash while…

Pros
  • Useful not only for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Everything great

Always reliable, always ready.

I bought several of these readers for use with various sizes of SD cards about four years ago and have used them with both the small 32MB and large 32GB. The way I use it with VMs requires that I use USB based card readers and cannot use the ones built into laptops. The readers work very well with micro SD cards, but you will need to provide your own micro SD adapter for a regular SD card. It has always been very reliable. I always have one in my office, one at home and one in my laptop bag. I…

Looked great at first but then it died

I've used it 2 or 3 times with no problems but it's not like it's a useless piece of plastic. Whether USB 1.1, 2.0 or 3.0, it was just slow. I always eject my USB devices correctly and safely. It still recognizes the device when I plug it in, it just doesn't identify itself properly no matter how many computers I try it on. The bad thing is I bought it to go with my camera bag so I didn't have any memory cards to read on the trip and there was no way to copy anything, luckily I have an extra…

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Hard to say

This is the second time someone has calculated a reader to work with a Win98 PC. Why lie? It's a compact product with a thoughtful design that works great on new systems. Why lie? I needed an easy and efficient way to take over some files from an old Win98 computer that had a USB stick installed. I'm not a computer guru but I believe there must be a driver that runs on Win98 because the operating system can't have a driver for such a new device. The other one I bought (from a well-known office…

UPDATE 4/24/2013: Sorry I messed up

Dated 10/09/2102: Just arrived today. Tested on my PC. Immediate driver installation - works perfectly on Windows 7. Image transfer rate from camera to computer via USB cable was approximately 1MB/s. This SD card reader did it in about 20MB/s - yes, that's TWENTY TIMES FASTER. If the SD memory card reader breaks or other problems, I will make it faster, but the test was successful. I paid ONLY $1.72 for this item (including $0.50 shipping) so come on man this is ridiculous! How can you NOT like

Pros
  • Holding my fists
Cons
  • Not all is as good as it is written

Well it's cheap. on Computer Accessories and Peripherals

And the worst thing is that it almost works. I bought some 16GB Sandisk cards and these adapters and they almost passed the basic verification test. (Many SD cards are fake or lie about the size so check them) and during verification both cards failed verification - not much. It's enough that you MAY NOT notice, but when you're submitting something important like your thesis, Murphy will come knocking. So some things have changed places, and real adapters have emerged. Both SD cards worked fine

Pros
  • 1 Year Trial Version
Cons
  • Available in White Only

That's good about half the time.

I've had several (just over ten) variations of this type of adapter, and regardless of source, the following applies to all. For me, about half of these USB card reader adapters failed within the first week to 30 days of almost daily use, while others are used almost daily for over a year and two to just over two years. It's probably a good idea to make sure they're around half or just over a third the cost of the more expensive larger versions. Unless you can buy 2 or 3 of these for the cost…
