Description of 🌱 Enhance Aquarium Growth with Seachem Flourish Excel Bioavailable Carbon

CARBON PRODUCTION: All plants require a source of carbon, and Flourish Excel is a great and convenient source of bioavailable organic carbon. IRON PRODUCTION: Flourish Excel also possesses iron reducing properties, thus promoting the ferrous state of iron (Fe+2), which is more easily utilized by plants than ferric iron (Fe+3). PHOTOSYNTHESIS: Plants must produce longer chain carbon compounds (photosynthetic intermediates). By dosing with Flourish Excel you bypass the involvement of chain carbon compounds, and introduce the already finished, structurally similar compounds. TREATMENT: On initial use or after a major (> 40%) water change, use 1 capful of Flourish Excel (5 mL) for every 40 L (10 US gallons). Thereafter, use 1 capful for every 200 L (50 US gallons) daily or every other day. For smaller dosing please note that each cap thread is approximately 1 mL. SAFETY: Flourish Excel is completely safe for fish, however if you have Anacharis in an aquarium in which you are dosing Flourish Excel, then it is recommended to use it every other day rather than daily.

Plants love it! Blackbeard hates seaweed!

I bought this to kill Black Beard Algae (BBA) in my aquarium. An added benefit is that my plants LOVE the extra nutrients (which is probably why I used BBA in the first place). When treating with BBA, be sure to turn off all filters, pumps, and aerators first, then use a 1mL syringe to dose over the BBA, wait 10 minutes, then turn pumps back on, etc Attempting to treat the BBA while the water is moving is not nearly as efficient. I am treating BBA at the recommended dose about every 1-2 days…

Great for plants but use with caution

Seems to have helped my plants but not nearly as effectively as the CO2 system. If you really want to improve your live plants, a CO2 system is your best investment. If you don't have many plants and/or if they require very little maintenance, this might be fine. My biggest criticism of Excel is being very careful with dosing, especially when holding inverts. Many snails, especially mystery snails, seem to be sensitive to the product. The product claims to be safe for inverte, but I dosed…

Seachem Flourish Excel is simply amazing.

I'm new to Seachem but now I use it for most of my chemicals and water conditioner. Figure 1 - Week 1, Figure 2 - Week 3. After a week of using the RDA in combination with the Leaf Zone API, my plants have fully recovered and have new growth. Pieces of dead java moss that had fallen and scattered across the substrate began to turn green and grow back. No loss of fish or invertebrates. After two weeks of daily use at 115% DV, thread algae and common algae blooms were almost gone, the remains of…

Black Beard Algae in my 20 gallon planted tank

--Update -- The algae started dissolving and fast. Now it is uneven and comes off in lumps. The stones pictured were 90% covered with dark hair. You can see that this is no longer a healthy color of algae. I'm guessing the green spots are cyanobacteria, but they haven't spread beyond these rocks in months. If so, I have a teal stain remover that works wonders. Another day I'll do a good 50% water change and my tank will be nice again. That is amazing. They really should advertise its…
