Unfortunately this item was opened and the salt spilled into the bag. I'm not sure how safe it is to even use it or if it has been contaminated? I was also very interested in trying this brand.

Product works great. Much easier than trying to find the right salinity density for brackish water. I also tested this with a small planted aquarium to see if the plants would survive as advertised on the bottle. There were no problems with plants. This is great because now I can plant plants in my brackish water tank.

Although the salt mix is slightly more expensive than the alternatives, I think this is the most appropriate approach. The mixed tank with fish from different places gives my fish a part of their native environment. Simple, clear directions along with easy dosing and great customer service when needed. I'm clearly a fan of theirs, but none of their products have disappointed me. What I can't say about any other brand.

Bought this salt for our 20 gallon fiddler crab tank and it works great. It may not be the most economical salt supplement; You can buy sea salt cheaper. People seem confused by aquarium salt. API Aquarium Salt is NOT intended for use in brackish/marine aquariums. It does not provide the necessary nutrients, minerals, etc. THIS brackish salt can be used for brackish or saltwater systems, although as mentioned earlier this is hardly the most cost-effective option if you have a large aquarium.
