a friend had 2 screws of this model at work, one has been working with a bad smart for a long time, but was used as a file cleaner, and the second was with a good smart, but suddenly just died with the data, took it to the service, threw the board from the second screw, there was no sense , added power, started up, removed the data, but it also went all with bads, ated the firmware to ss4n, did a surface test, a lot of unreadable sectors, the computer freezes with it, it can and will be used…

Good product for me, no problems at all.

Before that, I had 1 TB Seagate 72002022, but after 2 years of use, Reallocated sectors began to appear on it. For me, this is always a "wake-up call" that it's time to change the disk. Decided to stay with Seagate, because. 2 years for an HDD is a normal period, moreover, almost all important data was transferred from the old disk without any problems. Here you need to understand that the HDD is a mechanical component and there is always wear and tear, i. E. Basically, it's a consumable item.

Pros
  • Very quiet. I was pleasantly surprised by the improvement in acoustic qualities compared to the previous 72002022 series. This "screw" is practically silent in comparison. Also pleased with the performance. I installed a fresh copy of Win 7 x64 - and the system boots up in 10-15 seconds (I didn’t measure it exactly, purely subjectively, the waiting time is short enough not to "strain" at all).
Cons
  • So far, I have not personally identified. I use it as the main drive for 4-5 months.

The product is really good, I'm glad I bought it.

4 such hard drives are linked in RAID5 with all the consequences. The final speed (SATA2 ports) of serial recording is at least 50 mb / s (I won’t talk about the difference between megabytes and megabits). Unloaded temperature (basket total) 28 C. Most likely, the controller is to blame, but sometimes the hard drives in the BIOS are determined for 5-10 seconds and after that they have crooked names in the same place. One of them after 1.5 years RAID marked as dead. SMART does not seem to…

Pros
  • *Nimble *Cold *Quiet
Cons
  • *Compatibility (outside MBR specification) *Fragility *tiled entry

I have been sitting on Seagate all my life, it was not a bad company Bought st2022dm001-1ch164 also 6 friends bought within 1 year after my purchase after 2 years and 3 months - Dr. Web began to hang when ating - the result of the screw fell down and after a time it became determined by the system also 4 more hard drives died after the guarantor of the period Don't buy this! with the hard drive, the projects that I did not have time to backup died Bios was silent until the last (

Pros
  • Speed

Best thing for the money, glad I did it.

Seagate is almost always satisfied (there was an unpleasant moment with the 11th series - the disk was determined every other time, changed under warranty, still works). And now, what made me write this comment (I very rarely do this, maybe it will help someone). When copying large files to a disk, Windows XP hangs, after restarting the system, the speed dropped to 3 MB / s. It is solved by turning off the power completely. And in Windows 7, when copying, the disk is lost at all and the BIOS…

Pros
  • Fast and quiet, relatively cold. It will go both under the system and under the storage.
Cons
  • 1. Why relatively cold? Compared to the Seagate ST2022DL003 (also 3 platters, also Advanced Format, only 5900 speed), a year old is 2-4 degrees hotter. Not fatal, especially given the 1.5 times greater read-write speed. On the other hand, I don't need speed for data storage. 2. Sometimes he pecks his heads (already written). Again, ST2022DL003 beeps quieter, but constantly at idle with a frequency of a few seconds. 3. Advanced Format for XP - not fatal for Seagate (built-in SmartAlign technology), but it is desirable to format in Windows7.

Terrible quality, wasted money.

Bought as part of NAS seagate goflex home. It worked fine for about a year, then it started to freeze, I had to put it in a PC and check it, then there were about 1500 bad sectors, but somehow it worked further, the warranty refused to replace it, because I opened the NAS to replace the clock battery. It also failed to send to the manufacturer, because the disk is part of another device (NAS, laptop, monoblock, etc.), but they do not change such disks, great, right? Draw your own conclusions…

Pros
  • Speed Quiet Not heated
Cons
  • enabled head parking by default

I bought st2022dm001 when I don't remember, but: operating time 18250 hours. start-stop 2550. And all hello at once 8k+ bads 577 unrecoverable . Of course, it’s not bad for a desktop series, I’m not an idiot to put them in server raids and whine that they live 2 years or less . it’s not for 24/7 . dive into the sea with your iPhone and whine that it doesn’t shoot at depth . in general, the segate is a normal disk, but you shouldn’t wait from it anymore :( Although he died at the wrong…

Pros
  • Quiet, fast and not hot!
Cons
  • I would like to die not so immediately and to live longer!

Not satisfactory, upset with the product.

About a year and a half ago, a RAID was assembled on these disks (RAID10 of 6 disks, used exclusively for storing files), an LSI controller. For a year, I have already handed over 5 disks out of 6 under warranty. The seller (Regard) and the manufacturer each time confirmed the warranty case. If it wasn't for RAID, I would have abandoned this line of drives long ago, Seagate turned out to be very unsuccessful.

Pros
  • Price at the time of purchase
Cons
  • During the year, 5 out of 6 disks flew out of the RAID

One of the best deals, glad I bought this.

I took in 2022 in June 2 pcs. One immediately died, because. turned out to be broken, chipped in the power supply area of the sata. The second one works like under the system, caches, torrents, then, after buying an ssd, basically as a warehouse. More than 30 thousand hours. There are head clicks. We have already written about this and how to deal with it. Temperature yes 40 degrees at the peak of the load. Usually 30. Already working for almost 4 years.

Pros
  • Quite nimble. According to tests under 200 mb / s reading and writing.
Cons
  • Noisy.

I am very happy with this purchase, I will advise everyone!

In general, I am satisfied with the purchase, but I managed to buy it on the second attempt, for the first time they gave out a 3-plate copy, I refused this. You can distinguish when buying by a deeper concentric recess in the upper right corner of the case, or if possible by weighing it on an accurate electronic scale. In principle, it is possible to determine the design of the plates by deciphering S / N, but I will not describe the method for a long time, and the manufacturer's parameters…

Pros
  • Very quiet and fast model on 2 platters, maximum read speed 206.1 MB / s, minimum: 96.1 MB / s, due to the density of 1TB, thin and beautiful technocratic case design, adequate price, bought cheaper than sold now. No vibration at all! I came across such a unique copy, compared to the "miracle vibrators" on the 7200 from WD, the disk is completely invisible, when reading / writing information, the heads do not stand out with a noticeable crunch, a dull sound is heard coming from the bowels of the disk case, absolutely not acting on nerves sound. A low level of heating, at idle in the region of 33-34 g, under load, when copying 1.5 TB of data on the stand, it warmed up to 39 g, without active cooling.
Cons
  • Warranty period 24 months, flimsy, not protected from fur. damage to the packaging, the need to disable APM, otherwise the disk will constantly click and the parameter (C1) Load Cycle Count in smart will constantly grow, and the number of parking spaces included in the disk software is not infinite, the most radical way to disable it is to create the hdparm startup task in the Windows Task Scheduler -B 255 /dev/hda (where the last letter is the disk number in the system), when loading the OS and exiting sleep, you can put a hidden task completion attribute, you won’t see anything on the screen, the counter (C1) should increase by one, only with each turning on the disk, if you have so, then congratulations parking is disabled. The AAM option is disabled on many Seagate drives. No ated firmware, bought with FW CC24, Made in China. The only sound from the disk is hissing from the rotation of the magnetic platters.

Not perfect quality, there is a small defect.

Bought in August 2022 from Amazon, 2 pieces of the same series 1CH164-302. ated immediately to firmware CC26. Stood in a homemade NAS along with two WD WD20EARS. Compared to WD, they heat up on average 1-2 degrees more (the average temperature is 40, WD has 38), a little noisier, especially at the start. In terms of performance as a backend to NFS with sequential write / read - 70-80 MB / s (over gigabit ethernet), as a backend to iSCSI merges - 50-60 MB / s (over gigabit ethernet) (WD gives 80

Pros
  • Price at the time of purchase (2022, $ 98), quite productive
Cons
  • Noisier than WD20EARS, slightly hotter (+1-2 degrees to WD)

A reliable product, quality is acceptable.

ST2022DM001-9YN164. It is blown in the body. It is attached through elastic bands, so if there is any vibration, it remains with it. It is used as a file cleaner, the system is on an SSD. Lived 5 years. Recently the system hung when opening subdirectories. Puzzled. Sintenel banged, he howled with a good obscenity - offhand he counted 1440 bads, 9% of the total viability and 11 days before he died :) At the same time, I checked the disks a couple of months ago, everything was OK. Here I sit…

Pros
  • Nothing in particular stands out. Solid middle man. There are noises from it, but they are lost against the background of the work of the system unit. In any case, it doesn't bother me.
Cons
  • Lifetime. Perhaps so.

Great for computers and accessories

It was an upgrade of an old machine. It has worked as expected and there have been no issues so far, and don't expect any in the foreseeable future. I have used Seagate before and they have been reliable.

Pros
  • Data storage
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
